Design strategies for coordination polymers as electrodes and electrolytes in rechargeable lithium batteries

Jingwei Liu et al.

Summary: Coordination polymers (CPs) with multiple redox-active sites have great potential as rechargeable lithium batteries due to their adjustable composition, pore structure, crystalline nature, and easy synthesis. The crystalline structures provide abundant accessible redox-active sites and three-dimensional channels for rapid ion transport. This review summarizes the design strategies of CP-based materials for lithium-ion storage and ion transport in rechargeable lithium batteries. The improved electrochemical performance of CPs in lithium batteries is closely related to favorable working mechanisms, synergistic redox-active reactions, addition of conductive molecules, and well-designed porous structures or morphologies. The opportunities and challenges of applying CPs to lithium-ion storage and ion transport are also discussed.

Bis(3-aminobenzenesulfonato-N)-diaqua-bis(N,N'-dimethylformamide-O)-copper(II)

Susanta Hazra et al.

Summary: The reaction between 3-aminobenzenesulfonic acid and Cu(NO3)(2)& BULL;2.5H(2)O in H2O/DMF solution produces a new copper(II) complex. The crystal structure analysis reveals that the complex has a distorted octahedral geometry. Comparison with a known copper(II) complex shows that they have the same empirical formula and coordinated solvents, but different structures.

Zinc-based solvents free coordination complexes: Synthesis, structures, photoluminous properties, DFT calculations and Hirshfeld surface analysis

Hafsa Saleem et al.

Summary: Two novel Zn(II) complexes, [Zn(2-MeImi)2(benz)2] (1) and [Zn(2-MeImi)2(piv)2] (2), were synthesized using Zn(NO3)2.6H2O, 2-methylimidazole (2-MeImi), benzoic acid (benz), and pivalic acid (piv). The complexes were characterized by UV, IR, elemental analysis, thermogravimetric study, and single X-ray crystallography. Both complexes exhibited distorted tetrahedral geometry with 2-methylimidazole and two carboxylates acting as coordinating ligands. Photoluminescence (PL) measurements showed broad peaks, suggesting the presence of defect states of zinc. Intermolecular interactions in the complexes were analyzed using 3D Hirshfeld surface analysis and 2D fingerprint plots. DFT calculation further confirmed the structural parameters and electronic transitions of the complexes, which were consistent with the experimental findings.

Thermal Analysis of a Metal-Organic Framework ZnxCo1-X-ZIF-8 for Recent Applications

Moustafa Ahmed et al.

Summary: Zeolitic imidazolate frameworks (ZIFs) are interesting materials with potential applications in energy storage, gas sensing, and photocatalysis. The study focused on the thermal stability and pyrolysis process, revealing the decomposition process can be separated into dehydration and pyrolysis reactions, while the combustion process has only one stage. Through thermogravimetric tests, kinetic parameters were computed to gain a deeper understanding of the pyrolysis mechanism.

Summary: A hexanuclear iron(III) complex was prepared and found to exhibit remarkable adsorption properties for methylene blue (88.60%). The complex demonstrated potential as a cost-effective, eco-friendly, and efficient adsorbent for hazardous water-soluble aromatic dyes. Further fine-tuning of such adsorbents is possible to enhance efficiency and dye selectivity.
