Perovskites in photoelectrocatalytic water treatment: Bismuth ferrite-graphite nanoparticles composite photoanode for the removal of ciprofloxacin in water

Enhanced electrochemical oxidation of oxytetracycline on oxygen vacancy-rich MnO@N-doped C anode: Transformation pathway and toxicity assessment

Summary: In this study, the degradation of oxytetracycline (OTC) using an electrochemical oxidation system with oxygen vacancy-rich MnO@N-doped carbon (ov-MnO@NC) electrodes was investigated. The ov-MnO@NC anode degraded nearly 95% of OTC within 60 min. The effects of electrolytes, OTC concentration, ov-MnO@NC dosage, current density, and solution pH on OTC degradation were examined. Radical quenching tests and EPR spectra showed the contribution of 1O2, ·O2-, and ·OH to OTC elimination. A total of 11 transformation products were identified, and their toxicity was assessed. The study also demonstrated the durability of the ov-MnO@NC anode with OTC removal efficiency maintained over 85% after four cycles.
