Prevalence and thirst intensity in children in the immediate postoperative period

Summary: This study aimed to identify the prevalence and intensity of thirst in children immediately after surgery and its associated factors. The study found a high prevalence and intensity of thirst in surgical children. Children were able to independently identify signs related to thirst and complain about it. Factors such as gender, spontaneous complaints, age, dry mouth, and thick saliva were associated with thirst intensity, highlighting the importance of reducing child thirst in clinical practice.
