Metabolic syndrome score as an indicator in a predictive nomogram for lymph node metastasis in endometrial cancer

Xuan Feng et al.

Summary: A predictive model integrating metabolic syndrome indicators and other variables has been developed to predict lymph node metastasis in endometrial cancer. The model showed good accuracy and clinical value in both training and validation groups.

Global cancer statistics 2020: GLOBOCAN estimates of incidence and mortality worldwide for 36 cancers in 185 countries

Hyuna Sung et al.

Summary: The global cancer burden in 2020 saw an estimated 19.3 million new cancer cases and almost 10.0 million cancer deaths. Female breast cancer surpassed lung cancer as the most commonly diagnosed cancer, while lung cancer remained the leading cause of cancer death. These trends are expected to rise in 2040, with transitioning countries experiencing a larger increase compared to transitioned countries due to demographic changes and risk factors associated with globalization and a growing economy. Efforts to improve cancer prevention measures and provision of cancer care in transitioning countries will be crucial for global cancer control.

Assessment of Sentinel Lymph Node Biopsy vs Lymphadenectomy for Intermediate- and High-Grade Endometrial Cancer Staging

Maria C. Cusimano et al.

Summary: In women with intermediate- and high-grade endometrial cancer, sentinel lymph node biopsy (SLNB) showed a sensitivity of 96% and a negative predictive value of 99% for nodal metastasis detection. SLNB had acceptable diagnostic accuracy and improved the detection of node-positive cases compared with lymphadenectomy, suggesting it is a viable option for surgical staging in this patient population.

Real-world database analysis of the characteristics and treatment patterns of patients with endometrial cancer in Japan

Keishi Akada et al.

Summary: Real-world data analysis of endometrial cancer patients in Japan revealed differences in characteristics and treatment patterns between early and advanced stages, with a higher rate of chemotherapy in advanced stages. Development of appropriate second- and third-line chemotherapy regimens is warranted due to the variation in regimens used for subsequent treatments.

Lower-Limb Lymphedema after Sentinel Lymph Node Biopsy in Cervical Cancer Patients

David Cibula et al.

Summary: The study found that replacing standard PLND with bilateral SLN biopsy in cervical cancer surgical treatment does not eliminate the risk of mild to moderate LLL, which develops regardless of the number of SLNs removed.
