Synthesis and characterization of conducting polymer/alginate composite hydrogels: Effect of conducting polymer loading on the release behaviour of metformin drug

Aleena Mir et al.

Summary: In this study, sodium alginate-based composite hydrogels using polyaniline (PANI), poly(o-phenylenediamine) (POPD), poly(1-naphthylamine) (PNA), and poly(vinylidene fluoride) (PVDF) were synthesized and characterized. The hydrogels were investigated for their spectral, morphological, and rheological properties. Metformin hydrochloride (MFH) was used as a model drug, and the release profiles were studied using intestinal fluid pH of 7.4. The incorporation of conducting polymers as crosslinking agents significantly affected the release behavior, which could be used to optimize and control the release of metformin hydrochloride.

Experimental and biophysical interaction studies of alanine modified polyaniline with bovine serum albumin and human serum albumin: Influence of alanine modification on the spectral, morphological and electronic properties

Ufana Riaz et al.

Summary: This study for the first time reports the modification of aniline with alanine using ultrasound-assisted polymerization. The formation of Ala-incorporated polyaniline (PANI) was confirmed by various analyses. The binding affinity of Ala/PANI towards BSA and HSA was found to be good, with hydrogen bonding and Van der Waal's forces playing a significant role.

Highly efficient degradation of metronidazole drug using CaFe2O4/PNA nanohybrids as metal-organic catalysts under microwave irradiation

Jannatun Zia et al.

Summary: Catalytic degradation based on microwave irradiation shows efficient degradation of organic pollutants. PNA/CaFe(2)O(4) nanohybrids exhibit higher degradation efficiency compared to PNA and pure CaFe2O4, with reactive species responsible for degradation confirmed by scavenger studies. Recyclability tests demonstrate the high reusability of the catalyst even after three cycles.
