Advances in the long-pulse steady-state high beta H-mode scenario with active controls of divertor heat and particle fluxes in EAST

B. N. Wan et al.

Summary: Since the last IAEA-Fusion Energy Conference, substantial progress has been made in the development of the Experimental Advanced Superconducting Tokamak (EAST) research program, focusing on the long-pulse steady-state high beta H-mode scenario. Various control schemes have been developed to sustain detachment and suppress ELMs, and important milestones have been achieved in terms of plasma parameters and key technologies. The operational domain of the steady-state H-mode plasma scenario has been expanded, and advancements have been made in divertor technology and heating schemes. EAST has successfully sustained a long-pulse high beta H-mode discharge similar to the CFETR fusion power operation scenario, and helium operation has been achieved for the first time.

Line identification of extreme ultraviolet (EUV) spectra from iron, copper and molybdenum ions in EAST tokamak

Wenmin Zhang et al.

Summary: In this study, the EUV spectra emitted from iron, copper, and molybdenum ions during EAST discharges were measured. It was found that the spectra of highly ionized states of iron, copper, and molybdenum appeared in discharges with high electron temperature. Two unresolved transition arrays and six new spectral lines were also identified.

Line identification of extreme ultraviolet (EUV) spectra from low-Z impurity ions in EAST tokamak plasmas

Lei Li et al.

Summary: Extreme ultraviolet (EUV) spectra emitted from low-Z impurity ions in EAST discharges were successfully observed, with spectral lines from partially ionized ions of helium, lithium, boron, carbon, oxygen, neon, silicon and argon identified. The measured spectra were analyzed based on the database of National Institute of Standards and Technology, revealing a range of electron temperatures and densities in the EAST plasma. This study provides a comprehensive database for EUV spectroscopy using fusion plasmas.

An extreme ultraviolet spectrometer working at 10-130 Å for tungsten spectra observation with high spectral resolution and fast-time response in Experimental Advanced Superconducting Tokamak

Zong Xu et al.

Summary: A newly developed flat-field extreme ultraviolet (EUV) spectrometer with high spectral resolution has been successfully used in the EAST experiment to observe line emissions from highly ionized tungsten ions. By carefully adjusting angles and positions, the spectrometer achieved a high spectral resolution, enabling the identification of line emissions from tungsten ions in different electron temperature conditions. Automatic identification of line spectra was achieved for all discharges during daily EAST experiment through analytical computer programs.
