Yasmin M. Ahmed et al.

Summary: The goal of this research was to create new ligand-metal complexes and characterize them using various physicochemical techniques. The data from elemental analyses, molar conductivity, magnetic susceptibility, infrared (IR), electronic absorption, 1 H NMR, mass spectral studies, and thermal analysis confirmed the stoichiometry and octahedral geometry of the metal complexes. The complexes showed superior antimicrobial, antioxidant, and anticancer activities compared to the ligand, and the ligand successfully inhibited the corrosion of steel.

Summary: This study evaluated the potential of two specific alpha-aminophosphonate molecules as anticorrosion agents for XC48 carbon steel under acidic conditions. The results showed high inhibition efficiency for both molecules, with AMP1 and AMP2 having inhibition efficiencies of 83.34% and 63.82% for EIS and 82.70% and 74.57% for PDP, respectively. The study also demonstrated the influence of temperature on inhibition efficiency and revealed the formation of chemisorption coating inhibiting acid attack.

Synergistic effect of potassium iodide on corrosion inhibition of copper by tetraphosphonic acid in hydrochloric acid solution

Naima Sait et al.

Summary: The synergistic effect of KI on the corrosion inhibition efficiency of TPA on copper in 0.5M HCl was tested. The addition of 0.02M KI improved the inhibition efficiency to 98%, showing a cooperative adsorption behavior between iodide ions and TPA. The inhibition efficiency of (TPA + KI) was not dependent on temperature, and the adsorption followed Frumkin adsorption isotherm.

Summary: Molecular dynamics (MD) simulation is a powerful tool for investigating the molecular level working mechanisms of corrosion inhibitors, providing valuable information when combined with experimental measurements. Despite the growth in studies utilizing MD evaluation, there is still uncertainty regarding the approaches and steps for corrosion inhibition of organic inhibitors on ferrous metal in acidic solutions.

Novel heterocyclic quinoline derivatives as green environmental corrosion inhibitors for carbon steel in HCl solution: experimental and theoretical investigation

Djamel Daoud et al.

Summary: The corrosion behavior of carbon steel in 1 M HCl solution in the presence and absence of newly synthesized Schiff bases was investigated using EIS, Potentiodynamic polarization, and SEM. Experimental results showed good corrosion inhibition performance of these Schiff bases, acting as mixed-type inhibitors, with adsorption on the steel surface following Langmuir adsorption isotherm. DFT calculation and molecular dynamic simulations were consistent with experimental tests.

Synthesis of ethylene bis [(2-hydroxy-5,1,3-phenylene) bis methylene] tetraphosphonic acid and their anticorrosive effect on carbon steel in 3% NaCl solution

N. Sait et al.

Summary: The inhibition performance of the newly synthesized ETPA towards carbon steel in 3% NaCl solution was investigated, showing increased inhibition capability with higher inhibitor dose, reaching 92% at 10(-3) mol/L and predominantly controlling the anodic reaction. Spectroscopic methods and density functional theory calculations indicated that ETPA has a high density of negative charge on the oxygen atoms of the phosphonate group, facilitating its adsorption on the surface of carbon steel.
