Recent advances in oxygen deficient metal oxides: Opportunities as supercapacitor electrodes

Jai Kumar et al.

Summary: This review summarizes the recent progress on new oxygen-deficient metal oxides (MOs) and their performance as supercapacitors. The introduction of oxygen vacancies into MOs can effectively enhance their electrochemical properties without altering their inherent characteristics. The importance of oxygen vacancies, traditional synthesis routes for MOs, pathways for generating oxygen vacancies, and advanced analytical techniques for detecting and interpreting these vacancies are discussed. Additionally, the influence of oxygen vacancies on the supercapacitive performance of researched MOs and the challenges and prospects of oxygen-deficient MOs in supercapacitor applications are provided.

Self-assembly of α-MnO2/Mn3O4 hierarchical structure on carbon cloth for aymmetric supercapacitors

Jincan Jia et al.

Summary: The study utilized carbon cloth as a substrate to grow alpha-MnO2 nanowires hydrothermally and reduce the surface of MnO2 to form a hierarchical structure. The ASC assembled with alpha-MnO2/Mn3O4@CC and activated carbon showed high energy density and good cycle stability. These findings provide an experimental foundation for the development of advanced, wearable, and energy storage devices.
