Ξc - Ξ′c mixing from lattice QCD

Hang Liu et al.

Summary: In the heavy quark limit, the lowest-lying charmed baryons can form an SU(3) triplet and sextet. The Xi(c) and Xi'(c) in these states, with the same J(PC) quantum numbers, can mix due to the differences in quark masses. This study explores this mixing by calculating correlation functions and determines a mixing angle of 1.2 degrees +/- 0.1 degrees, which is insufficient to explain the observed symmetry breaking effects in weak decays of charmed baryons.

Resolving puzzle in Ξc0→Ξ-e+νe with Ξc - Ξc' mixing spectrum within the quark model

Chao-Qiang Geng et al.

Summary: We studied the ratio R = 2 Gamma(Xi(0)(c) -> Xi- e(+)nu(e))/3 Gamma(Lambda(+)(c) -> Lambda e(+) nu(e)) and found it to be R = 1(0.8) based on exact(broken) SU(3) flavor symmetry, in contrast to the average value of R-av= 0.59 +/- 0.10 from the ALICE collaboration and lattice QCD results. To resolve this discrepancy, we proposed the use of Xi(c) - Xi(c)' mixing, which results in R approximately equal to 0.6. We also suggested experiments to measure the decays of Xi(c) -> Xi'(1530)e(+)nu(e) and discussed other evidences of mixing.

Impact of Λb → Λcιν measurement on new physics in b → clν transitions

Marco Fedele et al.

Summary: Measurements from the BABAR, Belle, and LHCb collaborations consistently reveal a higher abundance of tau particles compared to channels with light leptons in B -> D-(*)iota(nu) over bar vertical bar B -> D((*))l(nu) over bar B-c -> J vertical bar psi iota(nu) over bar vertical bar B-c -> J vertical bar psi l(nu) over bar decays. However, there is a relative deficit of taus in the ratio Lambda(b) -> Lambda(c)iota(nu)over bar / Lambda(b) -> Lambda(c)l(nu)over bar. This paper critically examines whether the data still indicates a coherent pattern of deviations, considering the model-independent sum rule relating these decays. It is found that no common new physics explanation can account for all the ratios, within 2 sigma or 1.5 sigma, depending on the normalization to light lepton channels. Further measurements are needed to reach a coherent pattern of experimental results.

Study on the weak decay between two heavy baryons Bi(1/2+) → Bf(3/2+) in the light-front quark model

Fang Lu et al.

Summary: In this work, the weak decay between two heavy baryons B-i(1/2(+)) -> B-f(3/2(+)) is studied using the light-front quark model with three-quark picture for baryon. The general form of transition amplitude of B-i(1/2(+)) -> B-f(3/2(+)) is derived, and two specific cases of transitions are analyzed: the weak decays of single heavy baryon Sigma(b) -> Sigma*(c) and the decays of double-charmed baryon Xi(cc) -> Sigma*(c) (Xi*(c)). The hadronic form factors are computed for the transitions and applied to study the decay widths of the semileptonic and non-leptonic decays. Future measurements on these channels will provide constraints on the nonperturbative parameter in the wavefunctions and test the model predictions.

Investigating the transition form factors of Λb → Λc(2625) and Ξb → Ξc(2815) and the corresponding weak decays with support from baryon spectroscopy

Yu-Shuai Li et al.

Summary: We calculate the form factors of the Ab -> Ac(2625) and Eb -> Ec(2815) transitions and evaluate the corresponding semileptonic and nonleptonic decays. Using the three-body light-front quark model and baryon spectroscopy, we obtain the spatial wave functions and compute the decay modes. Our results show that the branching ratios of the semileptonic processes can reach up to 1%, which is consistent with experimental data, and the nonleptonic decays to pi-, rho-, and D(*)- s final states have significant widths. These decay modes can be studied at the LHCb experiment.

Novel method for searching for the 80=+ c-800=+ c mixing effect in the angular distribution analysis of a four-body 80=+ c decay

Zhi-Peng Xing et al.

Summary: In this work, a novel method is proposed to search for the E0 thorn c - E0 thorn 0 c mixing effect in the angular distribution analysis of the Ec -> Eo0 thorn oA pi thorn l thorn nu decay. The appearance of the E0 resonance indicates the presence of the mixing effect, which can be observed using this angular distribution. The forward-backward asymmetry, as a function of the invariant mass square of Eo0 thorn and the E0 thorn c - E0 thorn 0 c mixing angle theta c, can be utilized to distinguish the two resonances and determine the exact mixing angle.

Light quark decays of doubly heavy baryons in light front approach

Hang Liu et al.

Summary: We study the semileptonic and nonleptonic decays of doubly heavy baryons induced by the s -> u transition. The hadronic form factors are calculated using the light front quark model, and we analyze the decay modes of doubly heavy baryons using helicity amplitudes. Our results provide benchmark values for various observables and suggest that these decays are likely detectable in experiments such as LHCb. The potential data accumulated in the future can further enhance our understanding of the decay mechanism in the presence of two heavy quarks.

Baryons in the light-front approach: The three-quark picture

Zhen-Xing Zhao et al.

Summary: In this work, a three-quark picture is constructed using a bottom-up approach for baryons in a light-front quark model. The shape parameters, which characterize the momentum distribution inside a baryon, are determined with the help of the pole residue of the baryon. The relation between the three-quark picture and the diquark picture is clarified. When building the model, it is found that Lorentz boost plays a crucial role, and the bottom-up modeling approach can be generalized to multiquark states. Based on this, a unified theoretical framework for describing multiquark states may be established.

Weak decays of triply heavy baryons in light front approach

Wei Wang et al.

Summary: In this study, we analyze weak decays of the triply heavy baryon Omega(++)(ccc) and calculate the form factors for Omega(++)(ccc)-> Xi(++)(cc) / Omega(+)(cc) transitions using a light front quark model. We predict the decay branching fractions for semi-leptonic decays and investigate forward-backward asymmetry and angular distributions. We also estimate the branching fractions for a few color-allowed processes and highlight the importance of the Omega(++)(ccc)-> Omega(+)(cc)pi(+) channel for the discovery of Omega(++)(ccc). This analysis provides a useful reference for future experimental searches.

New physics effects on Λb → Λc*τ(ν)over-barτ decays

Summary: This paper utilizes lattice determination to study the role of the Lambda(b) -> Lambda(c)* (2595)tau(nu) over bar (tau) and Lambda(c) (2625)tau(nu) over bar (tau) semileptonic decays in lepton flavor universality violation studies. By analyzing different observables, the paper compares the results obtained in the Standard Model and other schemes containing new physics interactions. The analysis shows that these decay reactions already have the potential to distinguish between different new physics scenarios, and this potential will improve with more precise form factors.

SU(3) symmetry and its breaking effects in semileptonic heavy baryon decays

Xiao-Gang He et al.

Summary: Using flavor SU(3) symmetry, we analyzed the semileptonic decays of anti-triplet charmed baryons and found significant discrepancies between experimental data and theoretical predictions, indicating severe breaking of the SU(3) symmetry. We then considered generic SU(3) breaking effects, finding that the breaking effects are large but can be explained in different scenarios. Furthermore, we explored testable implications in some interesting scenarios that can be rigorously tested with more data.
