Oxygen vacancies-modulated tungsten oxide anode for ultra-stable and fast aqueous aluminum-ion storage

Cong Chen et al.

Summary: In this study, a novel W18O49 anode with rich oxygen vacancies (W18O49-Ov) is proposed for rechargeable aqueous aluminum-ion batteries (RAABs). The oxygen vacancies are found to play an important role in modulating electronic state and bandgap, as well as providing active sites for Al3+ diffusion. Additionally, a 3D robust architecture of W18O49-Ov anode is constructed, leading to high performance of RAABs.

P-doped carbon quantum dot graft-functionalized amorphous WO3 for stable and flexible electrochromic energy-storage devices

Myeong-Hun Jo et al.

Summary: This study proposes a novel structure by introducing P-doped carbon quantum dots (P-CQDs) into amorphous WO3 (a-WO3) to resolve the structural instability issue. The functional groups of P-CQDs form strong hydrogen bonds with a-WO3, allowing the material to withstand repetitive electrochemical reactions and bending without deformation. In addition, the functional groups and graphitic carbon of P-CQDs improve the wetting ability of Li ions and the electrical conductivity, enhancing the electrochemical activity and kinetics. The resulting P-CQD graft-functionalized a-WO3 electrodes demonstrate excellent EC energy-storage performances.

Electrochromic response and porous structure of WO3 cathode layers

Dimitrios Louloudakis et al.

Summary: In this study, the electrochromic response of porous WO3 thin films grown at different pressures was compared, revealing that higher porosity films exhibited poorer performance, which can be explained by the characteristics of the porous structure. The accessible pore volume and area play key roles in determining the efficiency and reversibility of the electrochromic response.
