Sensibility to chemical preparation method and thermal study of lithium zinc iodate mixture and prediction of structure, linear optical properties of αLiZn(IO3)3 polymorph from DFT

Rihab Chikhaoui et al.

Summary: In this study, the lithium zinc iodate polymorph alpha-LiZn(IO3)(3) was successfully prepared and its optical bandgap was experimentally determined. Thermal analysis and morphological analysis were also conducted. Additionally, the structural and optical properties of two predicted polymorphs were explored using density functional theory.

High-Pressure Spectroscopy Study of Zn(IO3)2 Using Far-Infrared Synchrotron Radiation

Akun Liang et al.

Summary: The high-pressure spectroscopy study on Zn(IO3)(2) using synchrotron far-infrared radiation reveals that the material undergoes subtle phase transitions around 3 and 8 GPa, followed by a more drastic transition around 13 GPa. The pressure response of the modes above 150 cm(-1) shows non-linear responses and frequency discontinuities, possibly related to phase transitions.

Synthesis and Characterization of Novel Nanoparticles of Lithium Aluminum Iodate LiAl(IO3)4, and DFT Calculations of the Crystal Structure and Physical Properties

Rihab Chikhaoui et al.

Summary: This study reports the non-hydrothermal synthesis and characterization of nanocrystalline lithium aluminum iodate, LiAl(IO3)(4). Morphological and compositional analyses were conducted, along with studies on the optical and vibrational properties. The material was found to be promising for optoelectronic and non-linear optical applications, with a unique crystal structure and high Second Harmonic Generation response.

Structural and vibrational study of Zn(IO3)2 combining high-pressure experiments and density-functional theory

A. Liang et al.

Summary: This study reports a characterization of the high-pressure behavior of zinc iodate, revealing two subtle isosymmetric structural phase transitions and providing evidence of a nonlinear behavior of phonons and changes induced by pressure on the coordination sphere of the iodine atoms. The formation of metavalent bonding at high pressure, favored by the lone-electron pairs of iodine, is also discussed. Additionally, the pressure dependence of unit-cell parameters, volume, and bond distances is reported, as well as an equation of state describing the pressure dependence of the volume. Phonon frequencies and their symmetry assignments and pressure dependence are also presented.
