Design of strontium stannate perovskites with different fine structures for the oxidative coupling of methane (OCM): Interpreting the functions of surface oxygen anions, basic sites and the structure-reactivity relationship

Junwei Xu et al.

Summary: By designing and synthesizing SrSnO3, Sr2SnO4, and Sr3Sn2O7 perovskite compounds, it is found that small crystal structure changes significantly influence the reaction performance of the catalysts. The electrophilic chemisorbed substances and surface lattice substances on these perovskite catalysts actively and selectively contribute to C-2 product formation, and the moderate and strong surface basic sites play a vital role in the reaction.

Summary: Excessive hydroxyl groups on the Al2O3 support in Ni/Al2O3 catalyst result in strong metal support interaction, limiting Ni utilization. Developing tailored defect sites on Al2O3 through hydroxyl-exposed strategy can stabilize active Ni sites and catalyze CH4 dry reforming reaction, demonstrating excellent performance.

Renewable hydrogen production via glycerol steam reforming over Ni/CeO2 catalysts obtained by solution combustion method: The effect of Ni loading

Shamil O. Omarov et al.

Summary: Nanocrystalline Ni/CeO2 catalysts prepared by urea-nitrate combustion synthesis showed good catalytic performance in glycerol steam reforming. Characterization of the catalysts revealed that NiO mainly existed in the X-ray amorphous state and remained in the Ni-0 particles after reduction. Increasing the Ni content inhibited the agglomeration of CeO2 crystallites and increased the defectiveness of CeO2. The sample with 6.8 wt% Ni exhibited the best catalytic performance.

Rubina Khatun et al.

Summary: We have developed a bimetallic Pt-Ni/CeO2 catalyst for low-temperature partial oxidation of methane using a straightforward citric acid complex combustion method. The Pt-Ni/CeO2 catalyst exhibited significantly higher catalytic activity and stability compared to the monometallic Ni/CeO2 catalyst, which can be attributed to the modified electronic-structural properties.

Metal-Support Interactions and C1 Chemistry: Transforming Pt-CeO2 into a Highly Active and Stable Catalyst for the Conversion of Carbon Dioxide and Methane

Feng Zhang et al.

Summary: The study shows that Pt/CeO2 systems can effectively capture CO2 and CH4 at room temperature and serve as stable catalysts for the MDR process at 500 degrees Celsius. The Pt-CeO2 interface not only facilitates methane dissociation but also directly participates in the adsorption and dissociation of CO2, enabling the MDR catalytic cycle. The presence of elements with different chemical natures at the metaloxide interface allows for truly cooperative interactions in activating C-O and C-H bonds.

Role of lattice oxygen in methane activation on Ni-phyllosilicate@Ce1-xZrxO2 core-shell catalyst for methane dry reforming: Zr doping effect, mechanism, and kinetic study

Sonali Das et al.

Summary: Sandwich structured core-shell Ni-Phyllosilicate@Ce1-xZrxO2 catalysts with optimal Zr loading in the Ce1-xZrxO2 shell are found to greatly enhance the intrinsic activity for DRM due to increased lattice oxygen mobility of the ceria-zirconia shell and stronger metal-support interaction with Ni. Involvement of lattice oxygen in methane activation and dissociation contributes to the higher DRM activity of the Zr-doped catalyst with maximum oxygen storage capacity, as inferred from rigorous kinetic and mechanism studies.
