Rigorous Criteria for the Collapse of Nonlinear Cooperative Networks

Rui-Jie Wu et al.

Summary: When complex systems reach a tipping point, irreversible sudden shifts occur, causing significant harm to humanity and the natural world, such as ecosystem collapses and disease outbreaks. Previous methods of predicting tipping points using approximations may lead to unexpected errors due to the nonlinear nature of real-world systems. This study establishes rigorous bounds for tipping points in general nonlinear cooperative networks, providing two criteria based on the combined effect of dynamical parameters and interaction topology to determine system collapse or survival.

Dense and influential core promotion of daily viral information spread in political echo chambers

Kimitaka Asatani et al.

Summary: This study analyzed a year-long reply/retweet network of 42 million Japanese Twitter users and found that both left- and right-leaning echo chambers consist of approximately 250,000 users each, with efficient information spreading networks and core-periphery structures. Core nodes resonate in early stages of information cascades and unilaterally transmit information to peripheral nodes, while extremely aggressive users in echo chambers are connected to top influencers, affecting the entire community.

Assessing the Attraction of Cities on Venture Capital From a Scaling Law Perspective

Ruiqi Li et al.

Summary: This study reveals a clear nonlinear scaling relationship between venture capital activities and urban population in Chinese cities. Different sized cities exhibit varying fluctuations and growth trends in venture capital activities, indicating distinct dynamics and development modes within urban agglomeration regions.
