Reaction Conditions and Aqueous Washing Process: Implications for Graphene Oxide Production and Its Applications

Camila Mora et al.

Summary: The oxidation reaction of graphite with potassium permanganate in sulfuric acid was studied, and the reaction conditions and sample washing process were analyzed. It was found that longer reaction times, appropriate proportion of potassium permanganate, and room temperature conditions are beneficial for solubility and avoiding damage to the carbon structure. Water was identified as the medium for oxygen transfer during the washing process. Based on these findings, the graphite oxidation process was redefined.

Effect of High-Temperature Treatment on the Properties of Carbon Nanotube-Based Petroleum Coke Composite

V. V. Chesnokov et al.

Summary: The study found that the CNT/petcoke composite had slightly higher crystallinity than petcoke but lower resistivity. After high-temperature calcination, the resistivity difference decreased significantly, with the petcoke resistivity approaching that of the carbon nanotubes. High-temperature calcination also reduced the sulfur content in the CNT/petcoke composite more dramatically than in petroleum coke.
