Spatial restructuring of pollution-intensive enterprises in Foshan China: Effects of the changing role of environmental regulation

Wei Liu et al.

Summary: This paper examines the drivers of distribution of pollution-intensive enterprises (PIEs) at the intraurban level and finds that the changing environmental policy regime has influenced the siting strategy of PIEs. The research conducted at the regional or global level has oversimplified the 'Pollution Haven Hypothesis' and the 'Porter Hypothesis'.

Comparison of spatial interpolation techniques for innovative air quality monitoring systems

Nicoletta Lotrecchiano et al.

Summary: Different integration methods were tested for data from a dynamic road network (ROM) with pollution measurement sensors mounted on delivery vans. Two developed methods, ISOE and MISOE, were compared with the IDW method. Results showed that the MISOE model provided more accurate estimates with lower errors. The ISOE model, although more complex, provided better estimations on windy days. The maps of local adjusting coefficients identified critical areas for local environmental policy decisions.

Spatiotemporal pattern evolution and influencing factors of green innovation efficiency: A China?s city level analysis

Ke-Liang Wang et al.

Summary: Based on the GSE-EBM model, this study evaluates the GIE of 285 cities in China from 2004 to 2018. It uses various methods to describe the spatiotemporal pattern of GIE and explores the spatial heterogeneity of its influencing factors. The results show regional disparities in China's urban GIE, with a gradually decreasing trend from the Eastern coastal region to the Central, Western, and Northeast regions. The study also identifies significant impacts of population density, economic development, transportation infrastructure, openness, and industrial structure on China's urban GIE, with spatial heterogeneity.

Spatiotemporal Analysis of Road Crashes with Animals in Poland

Tomasz Krukowicz et al.

Summary: This article explores the influences of the time factor and wildlife populations on road animal-vehicle crashes, specifically in Poland. The research reveals that there is no direct relationship between the abundance of a particular species and the number of crashes, but there is a correlation between the crash numbers in previous years and the length of the road network.

Tracing out the effect of transportation infrastructure on NO2 concentration levels with Kernel Density Estimation by investigating successive COVID-19-induced lockdowns

Kamill Daniel Kovacs et al.

Summary: This study investigates the impact of transportation infrastructure on the reduction of NO2 air pollution during three COVID-19-induced lockdowns in a vast region of France. The analysis reveals a significant relationship between transportation infrastructure and the decline in air pollution, with economic and population factors also playing a role in explaining the reduction.

Topology Density Map for Urban Data Visualization and Analysis

Zezheng Feng et al.

Summary: Topology Density Map is a new method proposed for accurate and intuitive density map generation in urban environments. By constructing a DAG and calculating scalar fields, the method extends these fields to 2D space to provide accurate information and intuitive visualization for decision making, as demonstrated in two case studies. An interview with domain experts further confirms the feasibility, usability, and effectiveness of the method.
