Photo-Activated Circularly Polarized Luminescence Film Based on Aggregation-Induced Emission Copper(I) Cluster-Assembled Materials

Yan Jin et al.

Summary: In this study, a pair of chiral copper(I) cluster-assembled materials (R/S-2) was prepared and exhibited unique photo-response characteristics in DMSO solution. By combining R/S-2 with a PMMA matrix, the first photo-activated CPL film was developed, which showed a reversible photo-response and excellent fatigue resistance. The study revealed that the photo-response properties are attributed to the AIE characteristics of R/S-2 and a photo-induced deoxygenation process. This study enriches the types of luminescent cluster-assembled molecules and provides a new strategy for metal cluster-based stimuli-responsive composite materials.

Tunable Multicolor Circularly Polarized Luminescence via Co-assembly of One Chiral Electron Acceptor with Various Donors

Fang Wang et al.

Summary: Researchers have developed a general strategy to generate chiroptical materials with multicolor and signinvertible circularly polarized luminescence (CPL) through charge-transfer (CT) complexation and co-assembly. The resulting assemblies exhibit intense CPL with highly tunable emission bands and handedness. Single-crystal analysis shows that the molecular packing is alternately and asymmetrically arranged through CT interactions, leading to efficient transfer and inversion of chirality.

Kinetic and Thermodynamic Aggregation of Coordinated Supramolecular Polymers with Quadruple Modulated Inversion of Circular Dichroism

Chongtao Liu et al.

Summary: The circular dichroism (CD) inversion of chiral supramolecular polymer (SP) based aggregates, especially for the ones assembled from metal-organic supramolecular polymer (MOSP), has been achieved by rationally designing and preparing a set of nanoaggregates coassembled from para-pyridine imine-linked cholesterol conjugate (pPMPCC) and various metal salts. The supramolecular chirality inversion (SMCI) of these MOSP-based nanoaggregates is modulated by various metal ions and their content, as well as external stimuli like solvent effects, temperature, and ultrasound.

Circularly Polarized Fluorescence Energy Transfer for Constructing Multicolor Circularly Polarized Luminescence Films with Controllable Handedness

Kai Yang et al.

Summary: Utilizing achiral fluorophores to achieve circularly polarized luminescence (CPL) is important but limited by chirality transfer. Inspired by biological light-harvesting systems, a new strategy called circularly polarized fluorescence energy transfer (CPF-ET) is proposed to explore multicolor CPL films without chirality transfer. CPL is successfully realized through both radiative and nonradiative energy transfer. Chiral fluorescent helical polyacetylene acts as a circularly polarized fluorescence energy donor, while achiral fluorophores serve as energy acceptors. This work provides a facile and versatile platform for achieving CPL by taking advantage of achiral fluorophores.
