Nur Ahmad et al.

Summary: Preparation of NiAl, ZnAl, NiAl Magnetite Humic Acid (NiAl-MHA) and ZnAl Magnetite Humic Acid (ZnAl-MHA) was successful, and their characteristics were analyzed using FTIR, XRD, VSM, SEM-EDX, and BET analysis. The presence of Fe atom indicates the magnetic properties of NiAl-MHA and ZnAl-MHA, while the increase in %wt C atoms suggests the presence of humic acid. After 5 regeneration cycles, the adsorption percentages of congo red were 95.93% and 97.29% for NiAl-MHA and ZnAl-MHA, respectively. The effectiveness of NiAl-LDH and ZnAl-LDH decreased after 5 regeneration cycles, while the adsorption capacities of NiAl, ZnAl, NiAl-MHA, and ZnAl-MHA for congo red were 58.823 mg/g, 48.978 mg/g, 135.135 mg/g, and 178.571 mg/g, respectively.

Review on nickel-based adsorption materials for Congo red

Yingqiu Zheng et al.

Summary: The excessive presence of synthetic dyestuffs in aquatic environments can lead to ecological and health issues that are harmful to sustainable development. Adsorption is considered an effective method for removing dye pollutants from water due to its efficiency, cost-effectiveness, ease of operation, and lack of secondary pollution. Among various dyes, Congo red is a commonly used azo dye. Nickel-based materials have been extensively studied for Congo red adsorption due to their diverse morphology, large specific surface area, and strong affinity towards Congo red. However, the challenge remains in creating nickel-based adsorbents with high efficiency, stability, and recyclability for practical applications.
