An interval feature discrete grey-Markov model based on data distributions and applications

Jing Ye et al.

Summary: A discrete grey-Markov model based on interval distribution characteristics is proposed in this paper to represent and predict the imbalances in regional socioeconomic indicators. By introducing difference coefficient sequence and median sequences, differential equations for different development level trends are established. The combination of discrete grey models with the Markov model improves the prediction accuracy of nonstationary data sequences.

Multi-objective optimization of crude oil-supply portfolio based on interval prediction data

Xiaolei Sun et al.

Summary: This paper investigates the optimization of crude oil-supply composition and introduces the decomposition hybrid interval prediction method and a multi-objective programming model. By setting optimization parameters and risk preference factors, the study achieves the minimum cost and risk of importing crude oil. The results show that the decomposition hybrid prediction method outperforms single prediction methods, and increasing the optimization parameter significantly reduces costs and risks. The total cost of imported crude oil fluctuates sharply, while the total risk decreases with the increase of risk preference factors. The fluctuation of price and risk adjustment factors affects the optimization scheme for oil-supply portfolio.

Application of a new grey multivariate forecasting model in the forecasting of energy consumption in 7 regions of China

Meng Wang et al.

Summary: Scientific prediction of regional energy is of practical significance for rational control of energy supply. In this paper, the grey relational analysis and the FGM(1,1) model are used to analyze the samples, and a new grey multi-variable AGMC(1,N) model is used to study 13 provinces (cities) in 7 different regions of China. The results show that energy consumption in Central China will decrease in the short term, while it will continue to rise in the other regions.

Forecast daily tourist volumes during the epidemic period using COVID-19 data, search engine data and weather data

Chuan Zhang et al.

Summary: The COVID-19 epidemic has greatly impacted the tourism industry, posing a new challenge in predicting tourist volumes during this period. In this study, a novel multivariate time series forecasting framework called VMD-GRU is proposed, which utilizes COVID-19 data, search traffic data, and weather data. The approach demonstrates superior predictive power and reveals the importance of these three types of data, especially COVID-19 data. Accurate forecasts from this method can assist government officials and tourism practitioners in adjusting tourism resources and mitigating operational risks.

A case study on the effective implementation of the reuse and recycling of construction & demolition waste management practices in Malaysia

Usman Aminu Umar et al.

Summary: The case study on construction and demolition waste management practices in the Malaysian construction sector reveals that both housing and high-rise buildings have potential for reuse and recycling of their generated waste. While housing sector waste accounts for approximately 16% of materials used, the low quality and contamination hinder its recycling potential, unlike high-rise construction waste which has a high potential for reusability and recycling, generating over 10 million tons per year.
