Who?s included and Who?s not? An analysis of instruments that measure teachers? attitudes towards inclusive education

Stephan Kielblock et al.

Summary: In this study, inclusive education was defined as the right of all students to have access, presence, participation, and success in their local school. The researchers examined the measurement instruments used in 225 relevant empirical studies, focusing on teachers' attitudes towards inclusive education. The findings revealed that the majority of instruments employed exclusionary wording, targeting specific groups of learners. There is a pressing need for a new measurement instrument that fully embraces inclusive education for all students. (c) 2022 Published by Elsevier Ltd.

(Non-)Diversity and cultural (re)production in physical education teacher education: a Swedish example

Hakan Larsson et al.

Summary: Research on physical education teacher education (PETE) indicates that the program attracts homogeneous groups of students, mainly young men with academic backgrounds from the country of origin. Through a case study of a Swedish PETE institution, it was found that the students have slightly more diverse backgrounds but remain fairly homogeneous in areas such as school success and experiences in sports and physical activity. Attracting a more diverse group of students does not necessarily mean diverse experiences in movement culture and gained knowledge and abilities.
