Event-triggered H∞ stabilization of networked cascade control systems under periodic DoS attack: A switching approach

Maziar Fallahnejad et al.

Summary: This paper focuses on the control design of networked cascade control systems (NCCSs) subject to periodic denial-of-service (DoS) attacks. The controller structure relies on state-feedback controllers for both control loops. The primary loop's communication network is equipped with an event-triggered mechanism during periodic DoS attack to ensure stability. Using a switching systems approach, the mathematical model of the closed-loop system is formulated for stability analysis and controller design. Stability and stabilization criteria are derived and presented as linear matrix inequalities (LMIs) using piecewise Lyapunov-functional-based approach and average dwell time techniques. The effectiveness of the proposed method is demonstrated through a case study of a steam temperature cascade control system.

Distributed Security Control for Complex Cyber-physical Systems against Denial-of-service Attacks

Xiaojie Huang et al.

Summary: This paper investigates the problem of distributed security control for complex cyber-physical systems against denial-of-service (DoS) attacks. A distributed security controller with interconnected control nodes is proposed based on piecewise Lyapunov functions. The bounds of attack frequency and attack duration are explicitly calculated to achieve security synchronization. Meanwhile, an event-based data update strategy is proposed to resist the negative influence of DoS attacks on data transmission. A simulation example is given to verify the effectiveness of the proposed method.

Sliding Mode Resilient Control for TOD-based Servo System Under DoS Attack

Longyu Xu et al.

Summary: This article investigates the speed tracking control of multi-sensor servo systems in networked control systems that are subjected to external disturbances and denial of service (DoS) attacks. A communication protocol-based sliding mode resilient control method is proposed to quickly restore the servo system to a stable state after being attacked by DoS attacks. Experimental and simulation results demonstrate the effectiveness and feasibility of the proposed theory.

Reliable extended dissipative control for switched systems based on event-triggered communication scheme

Tianrui Li et al.

Summary: This paper presents a reliable extended dissipative control approach for a class of switched systems with time-varying delay and actuator failure using an event-triggered transmission mechanism. By introducing a merged switching signal and constructing appropriate Lyapunov-Krasovskii functional, sufficient criteria are proposed to ensure the extended dissipativity of the switched systems under asynchronous switching. The unified framework addresses H-infinity, passivity, dissipativity, and L-2 - L-infinity performance of such switched system.

Output-based event-triggered control of networked systems subject to bilateral packet dropouts

Chengchao Li et al.

Summary: This paper investigates the output-based event-triggered control problem of discrete-time networked control systems subject to bilateral packet dropouts. The NCS is converted into a closed-loop stochastic parameter system considering the stochastic sequences of packet dropouts. Sufficient conditions are derived using a Lyapunov functional based on stochastic variables to guarantee the exponentially mean-square stability. An improved iterative algorithm is proposed to obtain the output-based control law and event-triggering parameters.

Stochastic Game in Linear Quadratic Gaussian Control for Wireless Networked Control Systems Under DoS Attacks

Junhui Zhang et al.

Summary: This article focuses on the strategy design problem for sensors and denial-of-service (DoS) attackers in wireless networked control systems (WNCS) based on linear quadratic Gaussian (LQG) cost. It proposes an improved LQG cost model considering energy-efficient factors and analyzes the interactive decision-making process between sensors and attackers using a two-player zero-sum stochastic game. Equilibrium strategies for both players are discussed for continuous power-level setting, and an algorithm is developed to solve equilibrium strategies for discrete power sets.

Event-Triggered Output Feedback Synchronization of Master-Slave Neural Networks Under Deception Attacks

Ali Kazemy et al.

Summary: This article investigates the problem of event-triggered synchronization of master-slave neural networks, assuming stochastic deception attacks on the communication channels. Two discrete event-triggered mechanisms and static output feedback are introduced to reduce data transmission. By using the Lyapunov-Krasovskii functional method, sufficient conditions for synchronization are derived in terms of linear matrix inequalities, facilitating the design of suitable controllers. A numerical example is presented to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed method.

Output-based Security Control of NCSs Under Resilient Event-triggered Mechanism and DoS Attacks

Lisai Gao et al.

Summary: This paper investigates the output-based security control of networked control systems under resilient event-triggered mechanism (RETM) and periodic denial-of-service (DoS) attacks. A new output-based resilient event-triggered mechanism is introduced to enhance system reliability, while a switched system model is built to integrate the impacts of RETM and DoS attacks in a unified framework. Stability criteria are obtained using a piecewise Lyapunov functional approach, establishing quantitative relationships among RETM, DoS attacks, sampling period, and exponential decay rate, with sufficient conditions presented for co-designing the RETM and output-based security controller. An example is provided to confirm the effectiveness of the proposed method.

Adaptive event-triggered mechanism for networked control systems under deception attacks with uncertain occurring probability

Ali Kazemy et al.

Summary: This paper investigates the adaptive event-triggered control of nonlinear networked control systems under deception attacks, utilizing a scheme to reduce data transmissions. Modeling random deception cyber-attacks on transmitted data using a Bernoulli random variable, the study considers uncertainty in the occurrence probability, unlike existing methods assuming exact knowledge. Sufficient conditions for stability of the closed-loop system are derived using the Lyapunov-Krasovskii method, presented in terms of linear matrix inequalities, with two illustrative examples demonstrating the effectiveness of the proposed method.
