Measurement and Correlation of Densities, Refractive Indices, and Viscosities of Phosphonium Based Deep Eutectic Solvents at Several Temperatures Ranging from 293.15 to 323.15 K

Summary: This experimental study investigates the densities, refractive indices, and viscosities of nine deep eutectic solvents (DESs) at different temperatures. Two different DES families were prepared using different hydrogen bond acceptors (HBAs) and hydrogen bond donors (HBDs) to examine the effect of HBA molecular structure on physical properties. The results show that DESs based on one HBA have higher density and viscosity values, but lower refractive index values compared to DESs based on the other HBA. The study also assesses the impact of temperature and mole ratio on the physical properties of DESs, and successfully correlates viscosity data with temperature using three equations.

Rapid and effective method of laser metallization of dielectric materials using deep eutectic solvents with copper acetate

Summary: In this paper, a rapid laser-induced synthesis method for copper micropatterns on the surface of oxide glass is proposed using deep eutectic solvents (DESs) as copper plating solutions. It is demonstrated that the deposition rate of copper can be increased and micropatterns with high adhesion and resistance close to pure metal can be created by 532-nm continuous wave laser irradiation. This method is promising for practical applications in producing new printable microelectronic devices, and the resulting copper micropatterns can be used as working electrodes for non-enzymatic glucose.

The effect of water content on lignin solubilization in deep eutectic solvents

Investigation the effect of water addition on intermolecular interactions of fatty acids-based deep eutectic solvents by molecular dynamics simulations

Summary: In this study, we investigated the interaction between hydrogen bond acceptor (HBA) and hydrogen bond donor (HBD) in binary mixtures. The findings revealed that the presence of Cl- anion is crucial for the formation of deep eutectic solvents (DESs). Moreover, the structural stability of DESs based on fatty acids (FAs) and choline chloride (Ch(+)Cl(-)) at different ratios was examined using molecular dynamics simulations in water. It was observed that the interaction between the chloride anion and the cation's hydroxyl group causes HBA to transition to the water-rich phase. These atomic sites play a significant role in the stability of eutectic mixtures containing FAs and Cl- anion. Notably, the binary mixture with a mole percent of 30% [Ch(+)Cl(-)] and 70% FAs exhibited higher stability compared to other ratios.

How hydrogen bond donor acceptor ratio and water content impact heterogeneity in microstructure and dynamics of N,N-diisooctylacetamide and decanol based hydrophobic deep eutectic solvent

Summary: Hydrophobic deep eutectic solvents (HDESs) have gained attention as green alternative media for extracting compounds from water, and this study uses molecular dynamics simulations to understand the microscopic structure, dynamics, and interactions in N,N-diisooctylacetamide (DOA) plus decanol (DEO) based HDESs. The analysis reveals nanoscale heterogeneous structure in all compositions, with polarity ordering observed in DOA:DEO (1:2) HDES at longer length-scales compared to other compositions. Liquid morphologies show polar and apolar self-segregation. Strong hydrogen bonding interactions dominate the microstructure of these HDESs, with DEO-DEO and DEO-DOA interactions playing a significant role. The translational mobility of the components decreases as DOA concentration increases, with DEO molecules diffusing faster in bulk HDES. Water content leads to enhanced segregation and weaker hydrogen bond interactions between DOA and DEO.

Ecotoxicological study of glucose:choline chloride and sorbitol:choline chloride at different contents of water

Dilution water has a more noticeable impact on these properties, while structural water has a more pronounced effect on fluorescence intensity. The findings suggest that controlling the moment of water addition can be a strategy to shape the properties of eutectic solvents for analytical, pharmaceutical, and industrial applications.

Insights into the role of molar ratio and added water in the properties of choline chloride and urea-based eutectic mixtures and their cellulose swelling capacity
