Single-crystal ss-BaTi2O5 nanorods were synthesized by a simple solvothermal method. The morphology and diameter of the nanorods were successfully controlled by adjusting the concentrations of Ba2+ and Ti4+ ions and the concentration of NaOH.
The ss-BaTi2O5 nanorods were synthesized by a simple solvothermal method. Barium acetate and tetrabutyl titanate were used as the sources of Ba2+ and Ti4+ ions, methanol was used as the solvent, and NaOH solution was used as the mineralizer. In the Ba-Ti precursor, the NaOH concentration was 1.0 mol/L, and the nominal concentrations of Ba2+ and Ti4+ ions were 0.028 and 0.072 mol/L, respectively. The single-crystal ss-BaTi2O5 nanorods with diameter of about 35 nm were formed, as the Ba-Ti precursor was heated in a autoclave at 240 degrees C for 20 h with continuous stirring.
