Summary: This study aimed to evaluate the impact of pre-existing depression, anxiety, or both on survival in older patients with DLBCL. The findings showed that these mental health disorders were associated with lower 5-year overall survival and lymphoma-specific survival in patients with DLBCL. Therefore, universal and systematic mental health screening for DLBCL patients is necessary to improve their survival and quality of life.

Improving education, income, access to healthcare, and addressing barriers for diagnosis among males, the elderly, and the population from the North region can help prevent a significant percentage of depression underdiagnosis cases.

The prognostic role of sex and hemoglobin levels in patients with oral tongue squamous cell carcinoma

Summary: This study found that male patients with tongue squamous cell carcinoma showed better overall survival and disease-free survival in early-stage tumors compared to female patients. Low hemoglobin levels were identified as an independent prognostic factor for women, especially in early-stage tumors. Sex was not a significant factor related to patients' prognosis in advanced-stage tumors (III-IV).

Female breast cancer surpassed lung cancer as the most commonly diagnosed cancer, while lung cancer remained the leading cause of cancer death. These trends are expected to rise in 2040, with transitioning countries experiencing a larger increase compared to transitioned countries due to demographic changes and risk factors associated with globalization and a growing economy. Efforts to improve cancer prevention measures and provision of cancer care in transitioning countries will be crucial for global cancer control.
