Selection of baseline blood pressure to guide management of hypotension during spinal anaesthesia for caesarean section

D. G. P. Luther et al.

Summary: By analyzing the changes in systolic arterial pressure values at different time points, it was found that there was a gradual increase in systolic arterial pressure before caesarean section (antenatal clinic, preoperative period, operating room). Using the initial blood pressure reading in the operating room as the baseline value may result in unnecessary vasopressor use and hypertension.

Defining the awake baseline blood pressure in patients undergoing carotid endarterectomy

Leonie M. Fassaert et al.

Summary: This study analyzed blood pressure measurements at different time points before CEA surgery, proposing that awake blood pressure can be determined by averaging measurements from the ward and outpatient department. Blood pressure measured directly in the operating room overestimates awake blood pressure and should not be used.
