Experimental and biophysical interaction studies of alanine modified polyaniline with bovine serum albumin and human serum albumin: Influence of alanine modification on the spectral, morphological and electronic properties

Summary: This study for the first time reports the modification of aniline with alanine using ultrasound-assisted polymerization. The formation of Ala-incorporated polyaniline (PANI) was confirmed by various analyses. The binding affinity of Ala/PANI towards BSA and HSA was found to be good, with hydrogen bonding and Van der Waal's forces playing a significant role.

Self-assembled quantum dots decorated polypyrrole based multifunctional nanocomposite

Summary: In this study, a modified sol-gel method was used to synthesize V/Mn/ZnO self-assembled ternary quantum dots (QDs). Polypyrrole (PPy) was polymerized through the chemical oxidative process, and VMZ/PPy nanocomposites (NCs) were synthesized using in situ technique. Various characterization techniques were employed to investigate the properties of the QDs and VMZ/PPy NCs. The NCs exhibited multifunctional properties including electrical, adsorption, magnetic, photocatalytic, antibiotic, thermal, photoluminescent, and anticorrosive abilities, making them a highly versatile nanomaterial.

Summary: This work reports the microwave-assisted degradation of Methyl Red (MR) dye using polythiophene (PTh), polyfuran (PFu) and its co-oligomers for the first time. The co-oligomers were synthesized by sonication with varying mol ratios of PFu/PTh. The polymers and co-oligomers were analyzed for their spectral and morphological properties, and their effectiveness as microwave active catalysts for degradation of MR dye was investigated.

Synthesis, characterization, and biophysical interaction studies of water-dispersible polypyrrole/polythiophene co-oligomers with bovine serum albumin and human serum albumin: an experimental and theoretical approach

Summary: This study reports the synthesis and characterization of water-dispersible polypyrrole (WD-PPy) and polythiophene (WD-PTh) copolymers in different weight ratios using experimental and theoretical techniques. Spectroscopic characterization of the copolymers was conducted using experimental C-13-NMR, FTIR, and UV-visible studies, as well as theoretical FTIR and UV-visible studies. Furthermore, biophysical interaction studies with bovine serum albumin (BSA) and human serum albumin (HSA) were performed, revealing strong binding with potential applications in designing inhibitors and biosensors.

Summary: Introduction of multi-functionality in conducting polymers through modification with dyes is a simple technique to design photosensitive and fluorescent polymers. This study successfully modified conventional conducting polymers with Sudan-I dye using a microwave-assisted method, resulting in oligomers with unique properties such as singlet oxygen generation and cytotoxicity against Leishmania parasite. The oligomers demonstrated potential for the development of new, effective and less toxic techniques for treating leishmaniasis.
