Hierarchical evolutionary construction of neural network models for an Atkinson cycle engine with double injection strategy based on the PSO-Nadam algorithm

Xilei Sun et al.

Summary: Based on the research of the Atkinson cycle engine (ACE), this paper explores the effects of different injection strategies and EGR on the combustion, thermodynamics, and emission performance. A neural network (NN) model for ACE is built, and the results show a strong nonlinear relationship between the injection strategy and EGR with BSFC, CO2, CO, NOx, and PN. The NN model based on the PSO-Nadam algorithm outperforms the rules-of-thumb-based model in terms of prediction performance and generalization ability.

An energy management strategy for plug-in hybrid electric vehicles based on deep learning and improved model predictive control

Xilei Sun et al.

Summary: To effectively manage the energy of plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEVs), an energy management strategy (EMS) based on deep learning and improved model predictive control was proposed. Various prediction models were compared and analyzed, and a long short-term memory based improved model predictive control algorithm (LSTM-IMPC) was developed. The results show that the LSTM-IMPC-based EMS has a significant fuel-saving performance and robustness, with fuel-saving rates close to the global optimal solution.

Adsorptive separation of butanol, acetone and ethanol in zeolite imidazolate frameworks with desirable pore apertures

Jing Wang et al.

Summary: This study aims to investigate the separation of ABE by using three hydrophobic zeolite imidazolate frameworks (ZIFs) with different pore apertures. The results show that increasing the pore aperture decreases the adsorption amounts and affinity for acetone and ethanol, while increasing the adsorption of butanol with higher selectivities. ZIF-71, ZIF-11, and MAF-6 are promising adsorbents for ABE separation.

Influence of the wall temperatures of the combustion chamber and intake ports on the charge temperature and knock characteristics in a spark-ignited engine

Seokwon Cho et al.

Summary: Reducing wall temperatures is effective in suppressing knocking behavior in spark-ignited engines, but it can also increase heat loss. Strategic cooling methods are necessary to balance these effects. This study demonstrated that cooling the wall temperature can improve thermal efficiency by advancing combustion timing and reducing compression work, particularly under part load conditions. Additionally, enhanced cooling on the cylinder head had a greater impact on knock mitigation compared to enhanced liner cooling, as seen in both experiments and simulations.

Impact of acetone-butanol-ethanol (ABE) and gasoline blends on the energy balance of a high-speed spark-ignition engine

Qijun Tang et al.

Summary: This study focused on the energy balance, engine performance, and combustion characteristics when using ABE as an alternative fuel in a high-speed spark-ignition engine. Results indicated that increasing the ABE blend ratio improved the brake thermal efficiency and reduced the percentage of exhaust energy, but also led to increased unburned energy emissions. Therefore, increasing the ABE ratio in ABE/gasoline blends can have various effects on engine operation.
