A Core Loss Calculation Method for DC/DC Power Converters Based on Sinusoidal Losses

Zhou Yan et al.

Summary: In this article, a core loss prediction model based on sinusoidal losses is presented. The model divides the axis of flux density into slice pairs in a B-P-h plane and quantitatively calculates the total hysteresis losses by summing hysteresis losses associated with the actual swings of flux density. The effects of duty cycles on the swings of flux density and dc bias are analyzed, and terms k(dc)(D) and k(Delta B)(D) are identified to show their effects on hysteresis losses.

Soft magnetic composites FeSiAl/MoS2 with high magnetic permeability and low magnetic loss

S. J. Zhu et al.

Summary: In this study, FeSiAl/MoS2 composites were synthesized by mixing MoS2 and aerosolized FeSiAl, using 2-D layered semiconductor material MoS2 as the insulator. The structure, morphology, and magnetic properties of FeSiAl/MoS2 composites were measured and characterized. The results showed that high-speed ball milling broke the weak Van der Waals force between MoS2 layers, resulting in nano-thick MoS2 micron flakes wrapped on the FeSiAl surface. The FeSiAl/MoS2 composites exhibited higher magnetic permeability and reduced eddy current loss.

Study on FeSiAl magnetic powder core coated with nano-Y2O3 and its influence on magnetic properties

Shibao Sun et al.

Summary: This article investigates the microstructure and magnetic properties of FeSiAl/phosphoric acid/nano-Y2O3/kaolin soft magnetic composites. It was found that nano-Y2O3 plays a dominant role in the coating process and leads to a decrease in permeability and an increase in core loss. The comprehensive magnetoelectric performance is good when the content of nano-Y2O3 is 5 wt%.

Highly efficient inorganic-coated FeSiAl/biotite soft magnetic composites

Shoujin Zhu et al.

Summary: FeSiAl/biotite soft magnetic composites were synthesized by ball milling, and their structures, morphologies, elemental distributions, and magnetic properties were systematically studied. The addition of biotite reduced the eddy current loss and improved the relaxation frequency of the composites, making them suitable for high-frequency applications. The FeSiAl/1-wt.%-biotite composite exhibited good magnetic properties with high effective permeability and low magnetic loss.

Sodium Nitrate Passivation as a Novel Insulation Technology for Soft Magnetic Composites

Mi Yan et al.

Summary: The evolution of coating layers grown at different pH values in sodium nitrate passivation technology for FeSiAl soft magnetic composites (SMCs) was investigated. It was found that an insulation coating obtained using an acidic NaNO3 solution contained Fe2O3, SiO2, Al2O3, and AlO(OH), while an alkaline NaNO3 solution led to the production of Al2O3, AlO(OH), and SiO2. The growth process was explained from both thermodynamic and kinetic perspectives and correlated to the soft magnetic properties of the FeSiAl SMCs. Optimal performance with an effective permeability of 97.2 and a core loss of 296.4 mW.cm(-3) was achieved at 50 kHz and 100 mT under tuned passivation conditions.

Soft magnetic properties of nano-SiO2 coated FeNi alloy powder at high frequencies

Cong Zhang et al.

Summary: This paper focuses on reducing the energy loss of soft magnetic composites by coating nano-SiO2 on Fe50Ni50 powder. The results show that annealing the magnetic cores in a reducing hydrogen atmosphere leads to the lowest power loss. Coating SiO2 significantly reduces the eddy current loss and reduces the power loss by about 33% at high frequency. These excellent properties make it very suitable for inductors in 5G technology.

Magnetic properties of FeSiCr@MgO soft magnetic composites prepared by magnesium acetate pyrolysis for high-frequency applications

Boru Dong et al.

Summary: In this study, FeSiCr soft magnetic composites with magnesium oxide insulating layer were prepared by the evaporation and thermal decomposition of magnesium acetate tetrahydrate. The thickness of the insulating layer affects the magnetic properties of the core, leading to improved frequency stability and DC bias performance. Thermal decomposition plays a role in annealing the composite powder and reducing the coercivity of the magnetic core.
