Tissue-specific accumulation, transformation, and depuration of fipronil in adult crucian carp (Carassius auratus)

Jing-Xin Wang et al.

Summary: The accumulation and transformation of fipronil in fish tissues were studied in this research. The results showed that fipronil accumulated in a time-dependent and tissue-specific manner in adult fish. Fipronil was primarily dispersed into other tissues via blood, and fipronil sulfone had a higher concentration and longer depuration time in fish bodies. The consumption of polluted fish containing fipronil and its metabolites poses a certain risk to human health.

Mitochondrial and transcriptome responses in rat dopaminergic neuronal cells following exposure to the insecticide fipronil

Christopher L. Souders et al.

Summary: This study showed that fipronil induced neurotoxicity by affecting mitochondrial function, leading to cell apoptosis and changes in mitochondrial membrane potential. The transcriptomic analysis revealed suppression of mitochondrial-related gene networks and altered gene expression associated with neurodegenerative diseases, supporting the hypothesis that fipronil acts as a mitochondrial toxicant in dopamine cells.

Summary: Boswellic acid (BA) is a powerful compound known for its antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and anticancer properties, derived from the gum-resin of Boswellia serrate. The study demonstrates that Boswellia serrata extract can protect against neurobehavioral toxicity induced by fipronil in male albino rats, showing significant neuroprotective effects by modulating oxidative, inflammatory, and apoptotic pathways.
