Preparation of resveratrol-loaded ethyl cellulose microspheres via foam-transfer and its application performances

Yun Wang et al.

Summary: Resveratrol (Res) is loaded on the biodegradable ethyl cellulose (EC) carrier to prepare highly porous EC/Res microspheres for sustained release and degradation analysis. The experimental results show that the batch-process yielded EC/Res microspheres with a yield of 80.70 wt% and an encapsulation efficiency of 73.89% under specific conditions. Continuous production yielded EC/Res microspheres with a higher encapsulation efficiency of 90.63% and a yield of 85.58 wt%. The EC/Res microspheres achieved a cumulative release rate of 91.97 wt% in a phosphate buffer solution (pH=5.0) at 45℃ for 120 h.
