Bamboo Leaf Flavonoids Suppress Oxidative Stress-Induced Senescence of HaCaT Cells and UVB-Induced Photoaging of Mice through p38 MAPK and Autophagy Signaling

Yanpei Gu et al.

Summary: In this study, bamboo leaf flavonoids (BLF) were found to have an inhibitory effect on the senescence of HaCaT cells, possibly through their antioxidant and anti-inflammatory abilities, along with involvement of MAPK and autophagy mechanisms. Furthermore, the results were validated in UVB-induced photoaging mice, suggesting that BLF could be a potential therapeutic agent for intervening skin aging both in vitro and in vivo.

Compound traditional Chinese medicine dermatitis ointment ameliorates inflammatory responses and dysregulation of itch-related molecules in atopic dermatitis

Rongrong Zhang et al.

Summary: This study analyzed the active ingredients of CTCMDO and established its fingerprint. It was found that CTCMDO could suppress itch behavior in a dose-dependent manner and improve AD by inhibiting the production of cytokines, reversing the upregulation of itch-related genes, and suppressing the phosphorylation of certain protein kinases.

Early intervention and prevention of allergic diseases

Helen A. Brough et al.

Summary: Food allergy is a common chronic disease in children with complex mechanisms possibly involving environmental and genetic factors. Understanding the pathogenesis is crucial for developing comprehensive prevention strategies. The development of food allergy may be influenced by the way antigens are initially presented to the immune system.

Where traditional Chinese medicine meets Western medicine in the prevention of rheumatoid arthritis

Per-Johan Jakobsson et al.

Summary: Chinese medicine has a long tradition of use in the treatment and prevention of rheumatoid arthritis (RA). This article summarizes the background, mechanisms, and proposed clinical trial for using Chinese herbal medicine in the prevention of RA. RA is an autoimmune, inflammatory disease that primarily affects the joints and is associated with genetic variations and smoking.

The global burden of atopic dermatitis: lessons from the Global Burden of Disease Study 1990-2017

M. R. Laughter et al.

Summary: The global burden of atopic dermatitis (AD) has remained stable from 1990 to 2017, with significant geographical variation among different countries. Lifestyle factors, linked to affluence, are likely important disease drivers, and further development of the GBD methodology is needed to better understand the variations in disease burden related to environmental risk factors.

Which Way Do We Go? Complex Interactions in Atopic Dermatitis Pathogenesis

Garrett J. Patrick et al.

Summary: Atopic dermatitis is a common chronic inflammatory skin condition characterized by recurrent and pruritic skin eruptions. Multiple factors contribute to its pathogenesis, including skin barrier dysfunction, microbial dysbiosis, and immune dysregulation. Interactions among these factors form a complex multidirectional network that can exacerbate atopic skin disease but can also be ameliorated by targeted therapies.

Anti-atopic effect of Viola yedoensis ethanol extract against 2,4-dinitro-chlorobenzene-induced atopic dermatitis-like skin dysfunction

Pinglong Fan et al.

Summary: The study suggests that Viola yedoensis Makiho may be a potential remedy for atopic dermatitis due to its traditional usage and superior anti-inflammatory effects. In a mouse model of atopic dermatitis induced by DNCB, Viola yedoensis Makiho ethanol extract alleviated symptoms by inhibiting the T cell-mediated allergic immune response.

Association Between Prenatal Exposure to Metals and Atopic Dermatitis Among Children Aged 4 Years in Taiwan

Tsung-Lin Tsai et al.

Summary: This study found that prenatal exposure to inorganic arsenic and coexposure to inorganic arsenic and cadmium were associated with a higher risk of atopic dermatitis in young children. These findings suggest that prevention of exposure to inorganic arsenic and cadmium during pregnancy may be helpful for the control of atopic dermatitis and other potential allergies in children.
