On Mechanical, Thermal, Morphological, and 4D Capabilities of Polyvinylidene Fluoride Nanocomposites: Effect of Mechanical and Chemical-Assisted Mechanical Blending

Ravinder Sharma et al.

Summary: This paper compares the mechanical, thermal, morphological, and 4D properties of PVDF-BaTiO3-Gr nano-composites prepared by mechanical blending (MB) and chemical-assisted mechanical blending (CAMB). The results show that the MB composite is thermally more stable, while the CAMB-based samples have better piezoelectric properties and mechanical and morphological properties.

On PVDF composite as partially absorbable smart implants

Minhaz Husain et al.

Summary: This article presents the in-house development of partially absorbable smart implants based on thermoplastic composites for orthopedic needs in canines. The study suggests that a composition of 8.0 wt.% HAp and 2.0 wt.% CS in PVDF provides the best reinforcement for preparing feedstock stock filaments for 3D printing of partially absorbable smart implants, with desirable mechanical and dielectric properties for online sensing capabilities.

On effect of chemical-assisted mechanical blending of barium titanate and graphene in PVDF for 3D printing applications

Ravinder Sharma et al.

Summary: In this study, chemically-assisted mechanical blending (CAMB) technique was used to prepare PBGC feedstock filaments. The effect of process parameters on the properties of PBGC filaments was investigated, and comparative studies were conducted between CAMB and mechanically blended composites. The results showed that CAMB composites exhibited better mechanical properties and dimensional properties were similar in both cases. Tensile strength of CAMB fabricated specimens was higher than mechanically blended PBGC in 3D printing.

On Rheological, Thermal, Mechanical, Morphological, and Piezoelectric Properties and One-Way Programming Features of Polyvinylidene Fluoride-CaCO3 Composites

Vinay Kumar et al.

Summary: In this study, the use of tertiary recycled polymers for smart engineering applications was explored. Comparisons between secondary and tertiary recycled PVDF-based thermoplastic composites were made, with a focus on establishing a suitable recycling process for 3D-/4D-printing applications in the repair of heritage structures. The results showed that the tertiary recycled composite prepared by chemical-assisted mechanical blending had better rheological, thermal, mechanical, and piezoelectric properties compared to the secondary recycled composite prepared by mechanical melt blending. The observations from various analyses also supported the outcome.
