A visible-light activated secondary phosphine oxide ligand enabling Pd-catalyzed radical cross-couplings

Takahito Kuribara et al.

Summary: Ligand design plays a crucial role in enhancing the performance of light-enabled catalytic processes. In this study, the authors synthesized a visible-light-activated secondary phosphine oxide ligand and applied it to Pd-catalyzed radical cross-coupling reactions. Through molecular design aided by computational calculations, the ligand enables ligand-to-Pd(II) and Pd(0)-to-ligand single-electron transfer under visible-light irradiation, facilitating radical cross-coupling reactions.

Magnetic Fe3O4/attapulgite hybrids for Cd(II) adsorption: Performance, mechanism and recovery

Jie Liu et al.

Summary: A Fe3O4 decorated attapulgite adsorbent (FA) was prepared for Cd(II) removal from wastewater, which was later turned into a CdS/FA photocatalyst. With in situ growth of Fe3O4 on attapulgite, the FA adsorbents showed increased surface area and improved adsorption sites. Strong interaction between Fe3O4 and ATP resulted in enhanced adsorption performance for Cd(II). The waste FA adsorbent could be easily separated and converted into a CdS/FA photocatalyst, displaying satisfying degradation efficiency for tetracycline.
