A highly efficient heterogeneous catalyst (Pd@Fun-PGS) was successfully prepared by immobilizing palladium on the surfaces of palygorskite through a simple method. The catalyst exhibited high catalytic activity for a wide scope of Suzuki-Miyaura coupling reactions in water without phosphine ligand under mild conditions. It showed good recyclability and stability, making it promising for applications in organic synthesis and catalysis.
A highly efficient heterogeneous catalyst (Pd@Fun-PGS) is successful prepared by palladium immobilized on the surfaces of palygorskite via a simple method. After functionalization of the natural palygorskite under mild conditions, a large number of effective binding sites are produced, which perform high catalytic activity in water under mild conditions for a wide scope of Suzuki-Miyaura coupling reactions without phosphine ligand. The novel catalyst is characterized by FT-IR, XRD, XPS, SEM and TEM. It is worth noting that the efficient and stable catalyst could be easily reused for at least 8 times with inappreciable metal leaching. The catalyst system has potential applications in organic synthesis and is expected to further expand the utilization of clay in the catalytic field.
