Kullback-Leibler divergence based sensor placement in linear processes for efficient data reconciliation

Om Prakash et al.

Summary: Recently, Kullback-Leibler divergence (KLD) based sensor placement design (SPD) has been proposed for accurate estimation of variables in steady-state linear processes. The use of KLD enables SPD for both Gaussian and non-Gaussian measurement noise cases and allows for the incorporation of user-specified estimation accuracies. This study establishes several important properties of the KLD based objective and presents a computationally efficient greedy algorithm to solve the NP-hard SPD problem.
