Novel electrochemical sensing platform based on palygorskite nanorods/Super P Li carbon nanoparticles-graphitized carbon nanotubes nanocomposite for sensitive detection of niclosamide

Yunhang Liu et al.

Summary: We developed a one-pot ultrasonic-assisted method for the preparation of a nanocomposite consisting of palygorskite nanorods/Super P Li carbon nanoparticles-graphitized carbon nanotubes (PNRs/SPCNPs-g-CNTs). This nanocomposite was used to modify the glassy carbon electrode (GCE) to fabricate a PNRs/SPCNPs-g-CNTs/GCE sensor. The sensor exhibited high sensitivity and selectivity for the detection of niclosamide in tap water and lake water samples, with a detection limit of 3.6 nM.

Structural and sensing properties of ethanol gas using Pd-doped SnO2 thick film gas sensor

Ankit Kumar Vishwakarma et al.

Summary: In this study, undoped and Pd-doped SnO2 films were fabricated on alumina substrate using screen printing technology. The microstructural properties of the deposited sensing film were characterized using XRD and AFM, showing a decrease in crystallite size, grain size, and roughness parameter with Pd doping. The response of the sensor to ethanol gas was found to be maximum for 1 wt% Pd-doped SnO2, with an observed response/recovery time of approximately 41 s/125 s. The improvement in sensing behavior towards ethanol gas was attributed to the reduction in crystallinity and roughness of the film.

Template-Free Construction of Tin Oxide Porous Hollow Microspheres for Room-Temperature Gas Sensors

Licheng Zhou et al.

Summary: The template-free method proposed in this study for constructing tin oxide (SnO2) porous hollow microspheres (PHMs) relies on the competition between solvent evaporation rate and phase separation dynamics of colloidal SnO2 quantum wires. The resulting SnO2 PHMs exhibit desirable structural stability and can be directly deposited onto device substrates for the fabrication of semiconductor gas sensors, simplifying the process and enhancing gas-sensing capabilities.

The role of surface stoichiometry in NO2 gas sensing using single and multiple nanobelts of tin oxide

Mateus G. Masteghin et al.

Summary: Semiconducting metal oxides (SMOs) used in gas sensors are affected by factors such as film thickness, grain size, and grain-grain junctions in the active device volume, complicating analysis and optimization of sensor response. Nanostructured devices with a single element offer a platform to understand the correlation between surface stoichiometry and sensor response. In this study, nanofabricated devices containing SnO2 and Sn3O4 nanobelts of different thicknesses were used to estimate their response to NO2 exposure, revealing differences in Debye length and sensor signals based on surface properties.
