Summary: Using a biopsychosocial health approach, the study examined the influence of close relationships on health for men and women. Both family and romantic relationships impact health outcomes through psychological biobehavioral reactivity differently by gender. Women's family relationships can have both positive and negative influences on health outcomes, while couple relationships appear to have less impact on health compared to family relationships.
