Thermo-mechanical stress modeling and experimental investigation on micro-cracks in tilling ribbon photovoltaic modules during lamination and mechanical load test

Summary: This paper investigates the impact of lamination and external mechanical loads on the cracking of newly developed tilling ribbon (TR) mono-crystalline modules encapsulated with Zebra-EVA. It is found that the TR module has significantly enhanced efficiency and reduced cracking risks and power losses compared to conventional PV modules. The use of Zebra-EVA reduces the probability of micro-cracks and decreases mechanical stress on silicon cells under external mechanical conditions.
