Heat transfer analysis for tissue with surface heat flux based on the non-linearized form of the three-phase-lag model

Kuo-Chi Liu et al.

Summary: The three-phase-lag model is proposed to consider thermoelastic effect. Bioheat transfer equations based on Taylor's series approximation of the three-phase-lag model are derived with a modified energy conservation equation. A mixed application of Laplace transform method and modified discretization technique is used to solve the equations and investigate the effect of thermoelasticity on thermal behavior in living tissue. The results show that thermal response oscillation is excited in medium due to the thermoelastic effect, phase lag times significantly affect the oscillation amplitude and frequency, and expansion order of TPL model affects the predicted temperature.

Effect of the permeability on the interaction between two spheres oscillating through Stokes-Brinkmann medium

Wedad Albalawi et al.

Summary: The study investigates the impact of permeability on the rectilinear oscillations of two rigid spheres moving through an unbounded viscous fluid about their axis of symmetry with no slip. A collocation technique is used to satisfy the conditions on the surfaces of the rigid spheres. The in-phase and out-phase forces are graphically obtained for various parameters, and the streamlines are plotted for different relevant parameters. The limiting cases of Stokes and Darcy's flows are discussed.

Thermoelastic analysis of biological tissue during hyperthermia treatment for moving laser heating using fractional dual-phase-lag bioheat conduction

Ying Hu et al.

Summary: In this paper, a time-fractional dual-phase-lag bio-thermoelastic model is proposed to study the thermoelastic response of biological tissues under high-speed and high-intensity laser heating. The model incorporates fractional derivative to describe abnormal diffusion in tissue and combines it with one-dimensional thermoelastic theory to solve tissue's elastic deformation. By comparing the thermoelastic responses with existing models, the effects of blood perfusion rate and laser velocity on temperature distribution and thermal stress response during percutaneous laser thermal ablation are analyzed.

Local thermal non-equilibrium bioheat transfer model for interstitial hyperthermia treatment of tumour cell: A numerical approach

Aishik Dinda et al.

Summary: Temperature tracking is crucial in cancer treatment to avoid damage to neighboring tissues. Computational modeling is increasingly used to overcome experimental difficulties in vivo. This paper presents a numerical model based on the Local Thermal Non-Equilibrium (LTNE) Bioheat Transfer model, considering the thermophysical properties of biological tissues and various factors. MATLAB is used to develop a numerical code that can evaluate temperature data in an anisotropic medium like human skin. The study provides insights into the range of thermal dose, the environmental impact on cancer cell treatment, and the comparison with other models such as Fourier and Local Thermal Equilibrium Non-Fourier models.

Numerical estimation of temperature response with step heating of a multi-layer skin under the generalized boundary condition

Rajneesh Kumar Chaudhary et al.

Summary: This article discusses a one-dimensional bioheat transfer mathematical model that describes the temperature distribution in the multi-layer skin under the step heating generalized boundary condition. The stability and accuracy of the numerical scheme are discussed and validated through comparisons with previous reference results. It is observed that the skin temperature decreases slower over time in the second kind boundary condition compared to the first and third kind boundary conditions. The effects of blood perfusion rate on temperature response are discussed in detail.

Summary: The study established a bio-heat model with fractional derivative to examine temperature variations and thermal damage in spherical tissues during thermal therapy. The effects of fractional parameter, blood perfusion, and laser exposure time on tissue temperature and thermal damage were investigated. Results showed that the bio-heat model with fractional derivative simplifies to parabolic and hyperbolic models under certain conditions, with numerical outcomes presented graphically.

The Effects of Fractional Time Derivatives in Porothermoelastic Materials Using Finite Element Method

Marin Marin et al.

Summary: A new model for porothermoelastic waves with fractional time derivative and two time delays was used to study temperature increments, stress, and displacement components in porothermoelastic media. The governing equations were presented under Lord-Shulman theory with thermal relaxation time, and the finite element method was adopted due to the complex formulations. The effects of fractional parameter and porosity in porothermoelastic media were studied, and numerical outcomes were presented graphically for future detailed studies on non-simple porothermoelasticity with various phases.
