Synthesis, characterization of undoped and copper-doped hafnium oxide nanoparticles by sol-gel method

N. Mahendran et al.

Summary: In this study, hafnium oxide nanoparticles with different copper contents were successfully synthesized using the sol-gel technique. The influence of copper concentration on the morphology and structure of the nanoparticles was investigated. The results showed that copper doping can change the crystalline structure of hafnium oxide and decrease the energy gap. Fourier transform infrared and photoluminescence spectra confirmed the presence of copper. SEM and TEM observations revealed the spherical morphology of the synthesized samples with particle sizes ranging from 34 to 43 nm. Additionally, the electrical resistivity of the nanomaterial decreased with increasing doping content, indicating improved conductivity.

Summary: The current worldwide energy directives aim to reduce energy consumption and greenhouse gas emissions. While electric vehicles have no direct emissions, their production process emits more greenhouse gas and consumes more energy compared to traditional internal combustion vehicles. To mitigate the environmental impact, electric vehicles should be used for as long as possible. Hybrid energy storage systems combining batteries and supercapacitors appear to be the most suitable solution for extending battery lifespan.
