Semi-supervised graph neural networks for pileup noise removal

Tianchun Li et al.

Summary: This study utilizes a semi-supervised graph neural network to reduce pileup noise by identifying individual particles produced from pileup. The performance of this approach is consistently better than widely-used domain algorithms and comparable to fully-supervised training using simulation truth information.

Search for invisible Higgs-boson decays in events with vector-boson fusion signatures using 139 fb-1 of proton-proton data recorded by the ATLAS experiment

G. Aad et al.

Summary: A direct search for Higgs bosons produced via vector-boson fusion and subsequently decaying into invisible particles is reported. The observed numbers of events are found to be in agreement with the background expectation. Limits are set on the branching fraction of the decay into invisible particles for a scalar Higgs boson with a mass of 125 GeV. Additionally, investigation on the invisible decays of scalar bosons with different masses is conducted.

Search for invisible decays of the Higgs boson produced via vector boson fusion in proton-proton collisions at √s=13 TeV

A. Tumasyan et al.

Summary: This study searches for invisible decays of the Higgs boson using proton-proton collision data collected by the CMS detector in 2017 and 2018. By constructing two analysis categories and using control regions to constrain backgrounds, the study establishes an upper limit on the invisible branching fraction of the Higgs boson in the vector boson fusion topology and combines this with previous measurements.

Pile-up mitigation using attention

B. Maier et al.

Summary: We propose a novel algorithm, Puma, for modeling pile-up using deep neural networks based on sparse transformers. Our method outperforms classical benchmark algorithms for pile-up mitigation in key observables in a realistic detector simulation.
