Flexible and Transparent Electronic Skin Sensor with Sensing Capabilities for Pressure, Temperature, and Humidity

Summary: In this study, a flexible and transparent sensor with interlocked square column arrays containing Ag nanoparticles (AgNPs), citric acid (CA), and poly(vinyl alcohol) (PVA) was designed, inspired by the interlocked biological geometry of human skin. This sensor exhibited multisensory capabilities for pressure, temperature, and humidity. The interlocked AgNPs/CA/PVA sensor demonstrated high sensitivity, low detection limit, fast response, and outstanding stability as a flexible pressure sensor. Additionally, it also acted as a temperature and humidity sensor with high resolution and real-time detection capability.

Dual Mode Strain-Temperature Sensor with High Stimuli Discriminability and Resolution for Smart Wearables

Summary: A dual-mode sensor with two electrodes and tubular mechanically heterogeneous structure is reported, enabling simultaneous sensing of strain and temperature without cross-talk. The sensor structure consists of a thermocouple coiled around an elastic strain-to-magnetic induction conversion unit, revealing a giant magnetoelastic effect, and accommodating a magnetic amorphous wire. The dual-mode sensor exhibits interference-free temperature sensing performance with high coefficient and low strain and temperature detection limits. The use of these sensors in smart textiles to monitor continuously breathing, body movement, body temperature, and ambient temperature is demonstrated. The developed multifunctional wearable sensor is needed for applications in early disease prevention, health monitoring, and interactive electronics as well as for smart prosthetics and intelligent soft robotics.

Printable microlaser arrays with programmable modes for information encryption

Summary: By inkjet printing high-refractive-index nanoparticles on the designated position of lasing microfiber arrays, the effective refractive index of the microcavities can be regulated, allowing for a simple encoding process to be conducted within a short period of time. Additionally, encapsulating the encoded microfiber arrays in polydimethylsiloxane reduces scattering loss and environmental interference, leading to the realization of a printable encryption chip.

Dual-wavelength switchable single-mode lasing from a lanthanide-doped resonator

A U-Shaped Optical Fiber Temperature Sensor Coated with Electrospinning Polyvinyl Alcohol Nanofibers: Simulation and Experiment
