Optically Reconfigurable Complementary Logic Gates Enabled by Bipolar Photoresponse in Gallium Selenide Memtransistor

Shania Rehman et al.

Summary: To simplify in-memory computing circuits, researchers have developed a single device that can simultaneously perform multiple logic gates and memory behaviors. This device, made of oxygen plasma-treated gallium selenide, exhibits resistive switching behavior and can achieve high stability and versatility. By adjusting gate voltages, the device can switch between NAND/NOR and AND/NAND logic gates, making it a promising solution for emerging neuromorphic computing applications.

Electrically Driven Nonresonant Single Molecular Switches

Rui Wang et al.

Summary: In this study, the charge transport characteristics of ISO molecules at the single-molecule level were investigated experimentally and theoretically. It was found that ISO molecules exhibit bias voltage-driven switching characteristics in single-molecule junctions. The mechanism behind the switch was identified as the shift of the frontier orbital energy levels of ISO molecules and the change of the interfacial electronic coupling with bias voltage. These findings will contribute to the design of high-performance bias voltage-driven molecular switches.

Single-Molecule Charge Transport through Thiazole-End-CappedConjugated Oligomers: Synergistic Au-π and Au-πInteractionsand Controllable Self-Decoupled Properties

Yunpeng Li et al.

Summary: The chemical identity of anchoring groups plays a significant role in the charge transport of single-molecule junctions. This paper reports a new pi-conjugated anchoring group called thiazole, which has a built-in quantum interference (QI) feature for Au-molecule-Au junctions. The charge transport properties of thiazole-end-capped conjugated molecules are studied using the scanning tunneling microscopy break junction (STMBJ) technique. Experimental results show that the conductance of junctions varies significantly with the substitution positions of thiazole, attributed to quantum interference and the change of coupling strength between molecule and electrodes. X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) experiments and DFT calculations confirm that Au-N and Au-pi interactions serve as anchoring sources, and the coupling strength between thiazole anchor and electrodes is adjustable. These findings highlight the inherent QI feature of thiazole anchor and expand the self-decoupling strategies for conjugated molecules.

Photoconductance from the Bent-to-Planar Photocycle between Ground and Excited States in Single-Molecule Junctions

Qi Zou et al.

Summary: The study investigates the photoinduced structural/ electronic changes on the photoconductance of DPAC derivative DPAC-SMe using single-molecule junctions. The experiment reveals a significant enhancement of conductance under continuous 340 nm light irradiation, which is attributed to photoinduced intramolecular planarization. Theoretical calculations suggest that the redistribution of electron cloud density results in enhanced conductance through the DPAC-SMe junctions.

Gating the conductance of a single-molecule junction with ion-π interaction

Rui Wang et al.

Summary: The single molecular conductance of viologen derivative VSMe and supramolecular compound VSMe-PA[5] was studied, revealing the gating effect of cation-pi interaction. Theoretical calculations indicated that the higher conductance of VSMe-PA[5] resulted from the planar structure of VSMe and the narrowed HOMO-LUMO bandgap of VSMe-PA[5], which was attributed to the cation-pi interaction between VSMe and PA[5] components.
