Mastering the synergy between Na3V2(PO4)2F3 electrode and electrolyte: A must for Na-ion cells

Parth Desai et al.

Summary: Sodium-ion batteries are a cheaper and more sustainable alternative to lithium-ion batteries for certain applications. However, the longevity of sodium-ion batteries is limited due to structural degradation caused by vanadium dissolution. This study identifies the primary cause of vanadium dissolution as surface reactivity and proposes methods to mitigate it, such as surface coating and optimized electrolyte formulation.

High-Power and Long-Life Na3V2O2(PO4)2F-Na3V2(PO4)3@C/AC Bimaterial Electrodes for Hybrid Battery-Capacitor Energy Storage Devices

Mainul Akhtar et al.

Summary: In this work, sol-gel synthesized carbon-coated materials were reported as excellent cathode materials for hybrid Li-ion batteries. The structure of the synthesized material enhances electrochemical performances by reducing diffusion distance, improving electrical conductivity, and structural stability. Additionally, double hybridization was introduced to further improve rate performance and cycleability. The excellent performances of the bimaterial electrodes are attributed to the synergistic interaction between the materials.

Oxygen-Tuned Na3V2(PO4)2F3-2yO2y (0 ≤ y < 1) as High-Rate Cathode Materials for Rechargeable Sodium Batteries

Xiaofei Sun et al.

Summary: This paper investigates the effect of oxygen tuning on the electrochemical performance of sodium vanadium oxyfluorophosphate. It finds that the optimal performance is achieved when the oxygen amount is 0.5. The superior performance is attributed to factors such as low impurity, mixed valence states, suitable carbon coating, low charge transfer resistance, and fast Na+ diffusion.
