HiggsTools: BSM scalar phenomenology with new versions of HiggsBounds and HiggsSignals

Henning Bahl et al.

Summary: The codes HiggsBounds and HiggsSignals compare model predictions of BSM models with extended scalar sectors to searches for additional scalars and to measurements of the detected Higgs boson at 125 GeV. We present a unification and extension of the functionalities provided by both codes into the new HiggsTools framework. The codes have been re-written in modern C++ with native Python and Mathematica interfaces for easy interactive use. Rating: 8/10

Search for new heavy resonances decaying to WW, WZ, ZZ, WH, or ZH boson pairs in the all-jets final state in proton-proton collisions at √s=13 TeV

A. Tumasyan et al.

Summary: This study presents a method for searching for new heavy resonances decaying into boson pairs in the all-jets final state. Machine learning techniques are employed to identify highly Lorentz-boosted jets. The results confirm limits on certain gravitational and vector particle models.

Searches for additional Higgs bosons and for vector leptoquarks in ττ final states in proton-proton collisions at √s=13 TeV

A. Tumasyan et al.

Summary: Three searches were conducted for physics beyond the standard model in tau tau final states in proton-proton collisions at the LHC. Upper limits were set on the products of branching fraction for decay into tau leptons and cross sections for production of new boson φ, revealing excesses for gg φ production at certain masses. Limits were also set on the dimensionless U1 leptoquark coupling in the search for t-channel exchange of a vector leptoquark U-1. Additional Higgs bosons with masses below 350 GeV were excluded in interpretations of minimal supersymmetric SM benchmark scenarios.

ScannerS: parameter scans in extended scalar sectors

Margarete Muehlleitner et al.

Summary: We present ScannerS-2, a public code for parameter scans and checks in theories beyond the Standard Model (BSM) with extended scalar sectors. ScannerS incorporates constraints from theoretical and experimental sources to determine whether a parameter point is allowed or excluded at approximately 95% confidence level. The implemented BSM models in ScannerS include popular ones such as singlet extensions, different versions of the Two-Higgs-Doublet Model, and different phases of the Next-to Two-Higgs-Doublet Model. The ScannerS framework allows easy extensions with additional constraints and BSM models.

Possible indications for new Higgs bosons in the reach of the LHC: N2HDM and NMSSM interpretations

T. Biekoetter et al.

Summary: Several searches at the LHC have observed local signal excesses at around 400 GeV in the channels of t(t) over bar and tau (+)tau(-). This study investigates the compatibility of these signals with the Next-to-Two-Higgs-Doublet Model (N2HDM) or the Next-to Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model (NMSSM). The analysis reveals that the signals in the t(t) over bar and tau (+)tau(-) channels point towards different regions of the parameter space, and an additional Higgs boson at around 96 GeV could also be accommodated. In the context of the NMSSM, a confirmation of a signal in the tt final state would support the alignment-without-decoupling limit of the model.

Multiboson signals in the UN2HDM

J. A. Aguilar-Saavedra et al.

Summary: We study the multiboson production from a heavy Z' resonance in the framework of the UN2HDM model, which is a standard model extension with an additional U(1)' symmetry and an enlarged scalar sector. After considering theoretical and experimental constraints, it is found that these signals, which are mostly not yet discovered by current searches, could have significant impact. We focus on three benchmark scenarios that predict up to 4000 multiboson events with the collected luminosity at LHC Run 2, and anomaly-detection methods could reveal these signals if they are present in the data.

Phenomenology of a 96 GeV Higgs boson in the 2HDM with an additional singlet

S. Heinemeyer et al.

Summary: We discuss the possible signal of a Higgs boson in the diphoton decay mode at 96 GeV reported by CMS and an excess in the bb over bar final state at the LEP. We interpret this signal as a Higgs boson in the 2 Higgs doublet model type II with an additional Higgs singlet. Our analysis shows that both models can explain the observed excesses and are consistent with other experimental and theoretical constraints.

Reconciling Higgs physics and pseudo-Nambu-Goldstone dark matter in the S2HDM using a genetic algorithm

Thomas Biekoetter et al.

Summary: In this study, a possible realization of pseudo-Nambu-Goldstone (pNG) dark matter in the framework of a singlet-extended 2 Higgs doublet model (S2HDM) is investigated, demonstrating its compatibility with a multitude of theoretical and experimental constraints. The S2HDM model is shown to easily account for the measured relic abundance of dark matter while being in agreement with all relevant constraints, including the possibility of accommodating center-of-galaxy excesses.
