Hybrid coating SnO2 for enhanced Li ions storage

Yanan Gao et al.

Summary: In this study, SnO2 nanoparticles were hybridized with ZrO2 particles with the support of carbon nanotube networks to form SnO2/C/ZrO2 composite, showing improved electrochemical performances. It was found that carbon nanotubes shortened the transmission path of electrons and Li+ ions, and ball milling promoted the formation of nanosized SnO2, which was beneficial for buffering volume change during electrochemical cycling.

Nano SnO2 loaded on N-doped carbon nanorods derived from metal- complex covalent organic frameworks for anode in lithium ion batteries

Huiqian Yang et al.

Summary: Covalent organic frameworks (COFs) with metal complexing ligand COF-phen and COF-bpy have been designed and prepared. They can complex with Sn4+ to form COF-phen-Sn and COF-bpy-Sn. In this study, these metal ion complexed COFs are used as precursors for the preparation of composite materials SnO2 @NCNR-x with nano SnO2 embedded in N-doped carbonaceous materials. SnO2 @NCNR-1 shows high reversible specific capacity as an anode material for LIBs, due to its high specific area, highly dispersed SnO2 nanoparticles, and improved conductivity.

Meng Sun et al.

Summary: CoTiO3 microrods and nanoparticles were prepared by a solvothermal method followed by thermal annealing. The microrods exhibited higher discharge capacity and better rate capability compared with nanoparticles, attributed to their good ion diffusion ability, large specific surface area, and porous rod-like structure. This work provides a feasible strategy for developing improved anode materials for lithium-ion batteries.

Dongdong Liu et al.

Summary: An effective strategy of anchoring ultrafine and high content SnO2 nanoparticles in ordered mesoporous carbon framework is proposed to improve the reversible capacity and sluggish reaction kinetics of SnO2-based anodes in lithium ion batteries. The ultrafine SnO2 and ordered mesoporous structure shorten diffusion distance of Li+ and enhance conversion reaction of SnO2, leading to high reversible capacity and excellent rate capabilities. The elaborately designed SnO2@OMC anodes exhibit stable capacity even after assessment of rate capability.
