Engineering a Lysin with Intrinsic Antibacterial Activity (LysMK34) by Cecropin A Fusion Enhances Its Antibacterial Properties against Acinetobacter baumannii

Karim Abdelkader et al.

Summary: This study demonstrates that fusing an outer membrane-permeabilizing peptide to a lysin with intrinsic antibacterial activity results in a superior lysin with improved antibacterial properties. The engineered lysin shows enhanced activity against colistin-resistant A. baumannii strains and is more robust in its antibacterial activity.
