Unprecedented Thermo-Enhanced Retainable Circularly Polarized Luminescence

Weilin Qi et al.

Summary: A strategy of coordinating self-assembly is reported to achieve temperature-enhanced and retainable circularly polarized luminescence (CPL). Mechanism study reveals that the coordination transition between the carbonate groups and Ca2+ is triggered by increasing temperature, leading to increased CPL intensity and g(em).

Steering phase-separated droplets to control fibrillar network evolution of supramolecular peptide hydrogels

Peng Zhou et al.

Summary: Controlling the morphology of supramolecular hydrogels is crucial in tuning their mechanical properties. This study investigates the evolution of fibrillar networks in hydrogels by modulating droplets formed via liquid-liquid phase separation. The size and amount of droplets, as well as the structural evolution and network development, can be finely tuned by varying the thermal history. The findings provide insights into the role of phase-separated droplets in self-assembling networks and contribute to the engineering of supramolecular hydrogels with adjustable mechanical properties.

Micelle Dynamic Reconstruction to Effectively Modulate the Transmission of Smart Windows

Wei Guo et al.

Summary: Micelles are highly dynamic aggregates that are subject to structural fluctuations in response to external factors such as ions and temperature. In this study, the aggregation behavior of SDS with excess K+ and the effect of temperature on the K+/SDS mixed system were investigated using molecular dynamics simulations and experiments. The addition of K+ led to a reconfiguration of the micelle structure and a significant change in size, while temperature induced a dynamic process of conjugation/deconjugation of K+/SDS micelles. A temperature-responsive smart gel was successfully prepared, showing excellent tunable performance in transmittance and stability over 50 cycles.

Real-Time Visual Monitoring of Kinetically Controlled Self-Assembly

Zizhao Huang et al.

Summary: This study monitored the self-assembly process of chiral DPAC derivatives in real time using vibration-induced emission, revealing distinct optical and morphological characteristics of different assemblies. Additionally, strong circularly polarized luminescence was induced during the morphology transformation process. The excited-state characteristics of the self-assemblies allowed effective investigation of the relationship between molecular aggregation and conformational change.

Light-fueled transient supramolecular assemblies in water as fluorescence modulators

Xu-Man Chen et al.

Summary: Light-induced amphiphiles were used to construct an artificial dissipative self-assembly system, which can form dissipative supramolecular assembly in water through light irradiation. The lifetimes of the transient supramolecular nanoparticles are highly sensitive to temperature and light power, and they can function in human hepatocellular cancer cells.

The kinetic landscape of nucleosome assembly: A coarse-grained molecular dynamics study

Giovanni B. Brandani et al.

Summary: Nucleosomes, consisting of DNA wrapped around histone proteins, are fundamental units of Eukaryotic chromosomes that compact the genome and regulate gene expression. Molecular dynamics simulations have provided insights into the kinetics, structure, and influencing factors of nucleosome assembly. The study found that histones and DNA can form various non-canonical nucleosome conformations during the complex assembly process, which remains unclear in detail.

Not by Serendipity: Rationally Designed Reversible Temperature-Responsive Circularly Polarized Luminescence Inversion by Coupling Two Scenarios of Harata-Kodaka's Rule

Xuejiao Wang et al.

Summary: Researchers successfully achieved reversible handedness inversion of CPL by coupling two scenarios of Harata-Kodaka's rule on a crystalline microtube platform. The process involves coassembling a linear dye with β-CyD, resulting in the generation of reversible left- and right-handed CPL under different conditions.
