Enhanced Circular Dichroism by F-Type Chiral Metal Nanostructures

Yuyuan Luo et al.

Summary: A novel design of a tilted F-type chiral metal nanostructure composed of circular nanoholes has been proposed to achieve remarkable CD effects under circularly polarized light. The structural parameters can be adjusted to achieve spectral modulation and enhance the tunability of the structure. These results are of great importance for enhancing the circular dichroism signal strength of chiral metal nanostructures and designing new types of two-dimensional chiral structures.

Boosting Piezoelectricity under Illumination via the Bulk Photovoltaic Effect and the Schottky Barrier Effect in BiFeO3

Yooun Heo et al.

Summary: Enhancing the piezoelectric property of BiFeO3 single crystals using light as a control parameter can result in a locally enhanced effective piezoelectric coefficient, d(zz), showing almost a sevenfold increase. This phenomenon is explained with theoretical models involving the bulk photovoltaic effect and Schottky barrier effect, and the role of open-circuit voltage and photocharge carrier density. These results offer key insights into light-induced piezoelectricity enhancement for potential multifunctional optoelectronic devices.

Spin-Orbit-Engineered Selective Transport of Photons in Plasmonic Nanocircuits with Panda-Patterned Transporters

Chengkai Jiang et al.

Summary: The spin-orbit coupling of light shows unprecedented potential in realizing on-chip integrated nanocircuits and quantum information processing, allowing for the manipulation of polarization and spatial degrees of freedom of photons. A dielectric-loaded plasmonic nanocircuit with a panda patterned transporter was proposed and demonstrated to directionally couple and guide plasmonic waves through two-branched waveguides, achieving a unidirectionality efficiency up to 0.95. This configuration may lead to the development of multifunctional nanocircuits for exploiting chiral manipulation with flexible degrees of freedom.

Diffused phase transition boosted dye degradation with Ba (ZrxTi1-x)O3 solid solutions through piezoelectric effect

Mengde Zhu et al.

Summary: The micron-sized Ba(ZrxTi1_x)O-3 particles exhibit good piezocatalytic performance and multifunctionality for degrading organic pollutants. The increase in piezoelectric properties is correlated with the degree of diffuseness gamma, and the presence of polar nanodomain regions significantly boosts catalytic activity.

Above-Band-Gap Voltage from Oriented Bismuth Ferrite Ceramic Photovoltaic Cells

Kun Yao Liang et al.

Summary: The research indicates that oriented ceramic bismuth ferrite (BFO) thin-film solar cells working in an out-of-plane mode can achieve an open-circuit voltage of 6.9V, with the best results obtained from cells that are 600nm thick and heated to 500 degrees Celsius. Furthermore, alterations in the current density-voltage traces suggest the ferroelectric nature of these solar cells.
