Xiaodong Zhang et al.

Summary: In this study, a type-II heterojunction is formed by encapsulating Materials of Institut Lavoisier (MIL-101) with anatase, and then a heterophase junction is further constructed to improve the catalytic performance of the photocatalyst. The enhancement of photocatalytic performance relies on the encapsulation of MIL-101, the light absorption capacity of anatase, and the contact area of two heterojunctions.

Hydrophobic Ni@N-Doped TiO2 Nanosheet Arrays-Carbon Paper Photocatalyst for CO2 Photoreduction at Tri-Phase Interfaces

Dawei Zhao et al.

Summary: Rational interphase reaction provides a feasible method to increase the formation rate and selectivity of carbon derivatives in photocatalytic CO2 reduction. In this study, a hydrophobic photocatalyst with TiO2 nanosheet arrays grown on hydrophobic carbon paper (TiO2-HCP) is fabricated. The reaction shifts to gas-liquid-solid tri-phase, generating CO molecules and effectively suppressing HER. The Ni@N-doped TiO2-HCP achieves a CH4 formation rate of 134.17 μmol m(-2) h(-1) (about 74.6% selectivity) and the total carbon derivatives selectivity is about 93%.

Element doping adjusted the built-in electric field at the TiO2/CdS interface to enhance the photocatalytic reduction activity of Cr(VI)

Biyang Tu et al.

Summary: TiO2-based heterojunction photocatalyst modified with element doping (N, I, Fe, and Ce) showed enhanced photocatalytic activity, with I-TiO2/CdS demonstrating the highest activity. DFT calculations and electrochemical tests revealed that high-electronegativity I doping increased the difference of Fermi level between TiO2 and CdS, resulting in lower charge migration resistance and higher carrier separation behavior at the interface, leading to improved photocatalytic performance.

Unique S-scheme TiO2/BaTiO3 heterojunctions promote stable photocatalytic mineralization of toluene in air

Xi Zhou et al.

Summary: In this research, S-type TiO2/BaTiO3 heterojunctions were synthesized by simple physical milling, which possess the capability to efficiently mineralize toluene under a wide range of humidity. The directional electron transfer from BaTiO3 to TiO2 via Ti-O link bridge in TiO2/BaTiO3 heterojunctions can form an internal electric field, inducing carriers migration in an S-type trajectory and effectively improving carriers separation efficiency. The photogenerated holes and electrons react with H2O and O2 adsorbed at different locations, respectively, generating numerous reactive oxygen radicals and promoting the photocatalytic oxidation of toluene.

Decorating {001} TiO2 nanosheets on hydrophobic NaY zeolite: An efficient deactivation-resistant photocatalyst for gaseous toluene removal

Juntao Tang et al.

Summary: This study reports a novel dual-functional photocatalyst, TiO2@HYZ, with spatially separated catalytic and adsorption sites. It shows excellent photocatalytic activity for the degradation of gaseous toluene under UV irradiation in humid air. The optimized TiO2@HYZ-2 achieves 96.6% toluene removal and 87.4% mineralization within 120 min. It also exhibits superior durability, maintaining stable performance over repeated toluene degradation processes. The enhanced activity and anti-deactivation property can be attributed to the synergistic effect between HYZ and TiO2 in the catalyst structure.
