Copper(II) complexes with 3,5-dihalogeno-salicylaldehydes: Synthesis, structure and interaction with DNA and albumins

Aphrodite Christidou et al.

Summary: A series of copper(II) complexes with 3,5-dihalogen-substituted salicylaldehydes as ligands were synthesized and characterized. The complexes showed intercalation as the most possible mode of interaction with calf-thymus DNA. The complexes also exhibited tight and reversible binding with bovine and human serum albumins, as determined by fluorescence emission spectroscopy.

A study on the applications of 3-amino quinoline complexes of Pd(II) as catalysts for the Suzuki-Miyaura coupling of aryl halides in aqueous and organic media

Thangavel Thirunavukkarasu et al.

Summary: A series of stable phosphine/arsine-free Schiff base Pd(II) complexes (1-3) were synthesized and investigated, exhibiting a square-planar distortion around the Pd(II) ion. These complexes were used as catalysts for Suzuki cross-coupling reactions in water/ethanol and water medium, showing high catalytic activity even with low catalyst loading. This methodology has the potential to be applied in the development of novel antimicrobial drugs for infectious diseases.

Vanadium(IV) complexes of salicylaldehyde-based furoic acid hydrazones: Synthesis, BSA binding and in vivo antidiabetic potential

Adnan Zahirovic et al.

Summary: Five novel neutral heteroleptic octahedral oxidovanadium(IV) complexes were synthesized and characterized. The quantum chemical properties of the complexes were studied, and the complex with a 5-nitro substituent on the hydrazone ligand was selected for further investigation. In vivo application of the complex in healthy and diabetic rats showed strong antidiabetic effect and moderate hypoalbuminemia. The complexes were found to interact with BSA, causing conformational changes and significant alterations in the microenvironment of BSA.
